A late entry with some decent gore
This is a decent late entry. There is nothing like the first film and there never will be again. There is no Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack like the cover states on this DVD. It's only 2 ch pro logic. It upscales decent enough and is worth a viewing here and there.

Return of the Living Dead : 4 'The sequel with no Bite'
Before I start I just want to correct the Ebay Description of this movie the bit where it says "In this incarnation of George A. Romero's zombie-saga" - Just to set the records straight George A. Romero has never had anything to do with the Return of the Living Dead movies - The closest connection is that His friend (and writer of Night of the living dead) John Russo wrote the novel of the first Return of the living Dead. -------------- Yes the series is back – but the rules have changed. At the very begginning of the movie a employee of the megacorporation goes to purchase some barrels of the mythical chemical that brings back the dead to life, straight away one guys gets infected and turns. The employee shoots the man square in the head – he dropes down dead, yes even ... The employee shoots the man square in the head – he dropes down dead, yes even though the zombies were virtually indestructble in the previous movies these go down with little more than a sneeze in their general direction. You even see some zombies dropping down dead with a few shots to the chest! The movie is so full of inconsistancies it's hard to forget about them – a few examples : 1)(the lead male's brother turns up near the end of the movie when the teenagers are sneaking into the megacorporation – not once is it hinted at that the boy knows what his brother was planning and how he actually found out how to even get there- the lead doesn't seem to question it) 2)stupid things like the Lead lifts a shotgun and holds it to his eye to aim (luckly for him its empty so he is saved from having his faced smashed in from kickback) 3)The Lead finds his parents as zombiefied killing machines (think Jason from Jason X) and soon after being released they go on a rampage killing the humans. Not once is it explained why or how that the scientist has managed to gain control of them (just imagine trying to learn the zombies from the old Return movies tricks – yeah wouldn't happen) It's hard to go into the plot as there really is none. Die hard zombie fans only.

Disgrase to the Zombie genre!!!!
Normally I am very open minded to the fact that most horror movie sequels are going to be sub-par compared to the original movie. That is O.K., as they are done on a smaller budget and usually they are squeezed out as fast as possible to try and pull some form of revenue based on the success of the original movie. That's cool. However, this movie is way below sub-par. In fact, this sequels is just straight up wrong. Why, I ask myself, would Dan O'Bannon allow someone to nearly destroy the integrity of such an important, influential series of cult films? This episode was directed by Ellory Elkayem and written by William Butler & Aaron Strongoni. I guess these guys just did not care much about the negative affects that this movie would have on people who are trying to enlighten ... Also I would have to say that Dan O'Bannon was not involved in the production at all at least I hope not. One of the most important elements from the original Return of the Living Dead was that the zombies could not be killed. The only real way to stop them was to burn them or chop them into little pieces. In this movie there was a scene where the main star in the film (Cody) killed a zombie by snapping his neck. What is that all about? Also all through out the movie zombies were being killed by gun shots the stomach. All of the acting is horrible. There is way to many long scenes in the movie that pull away from what little plot that there is. The main part of the movie which was to show the direction of the engineering of zombies as unstoppable war soldiers was hardly exposed (Necropolis). Then to top it off one of the characters that got bit and turned into a zombie actually got into a fist fight and a verbal argument with the main star (Cody). Zombies are blood thirsty brain munchers that need to eat brains to help stop the pain of being dead, not pretty boy boxers that like to call people names. Enough said. Don't bother with this one. What? No way can this be ROTLD!
I truly enjoyed the cheezy B-movie quality of the first three ROTLD movies. If you've seen 'em, you know what I mean. They are just shy of being a comedy. I thought 3 was a stretch but Necropolis just plain sucks. Lets face it, when the movie makers resort to throwing a scene in where the Army shows up and just starts mowing zombies down by shooting them anywhere and everywhere, you know no one wasted a lot of thier own grey matter in the making of this crap. This really fell off the 'cult' status that the first three ROTLD movies gained. The only thing that even came close to tying it in to the first two movies is the now famous zombie juice. What a disappointment. This is definitely a DO NOT BUY unless you just HAVE to top off your Return of the Living Dead ... I truly enjoyed the cheezy B-movie quality of the first three ROTLD movies.
