Beloved fairytales being acted out by famous people, and filmed well.
I loved watching these shows when I was young & am thrilled to be able to enjoy them again. It is also a treat to be able to share these stories and storytelling style (filmed theater) with my young children.

Most Wonderful & Unique Fairy Tales Played by Real Actors/Actresses
When younger, I watched Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tales with wonderment and amazement as they were excellent, entertaining and well-played by real actors/actresses, including Shelly Duvall herself. I have wanted to see all of her faerie tales again and again and to share them with family, both "old" and young. Having the Complete Series is the best thing to have, because like me, you will want to see ALL of the faerie tales over and over again. I have begun looking at the faerie tales again with the younger kids and found that younger kids want more lively and shorter fairy tales, such as cartoons and the ones seen today and that Duvall's tales are more slower paced and best understood by the mature audience; however, if Duvall's tale is funny and a story recognizable to the children, ... When younger, I watched Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tales with wonderment and amazement as they were excellent, entertaining and well-played by real actors/actresses, including Shelly Duvall herself. I have wanted to see all of her faerie tales again and again and to share them with family, both "old" and young. Having the Complete Series is the best thing to have, because like me, you will want to see ALL of the faerie tales over and over again. I have begun looking at the faerie tales again with the younger kids and found that younger kids want more lively and shorter fairy tales, such as cartoons and the ones seen today and that Duvall's tales are more slower paced and best understood by the mature audience; however, if Duvall's tale is funny and a story recognizable to the children, they really enjoy those best of her tales. A good example of one of her very funny tales is "The Three Pigs". It had my 3 to eight year-old nieces and nephews (including the adults) "rolling" with laughter. The acters/actresses were very funny in words and deeds. The wolf was both cool and dumb; and he had a domineering wife (never shown, but always heard) that sent him out to get pigs for dinner as they were having company. The pigs were very foolish and silly in speech and actions (except one). Their mom sent them out to live their own lives, as she was unable to care for them any longer; and did they (except one) fuss and whine about that. Even after the wolf blew the houses down, he was so dumb - he did not even look under the straw and wood where the pigs hid to get them. (hah hah hah) That is just some of the examples of how funny that tale is - the whole story had continuous moments of ridiculous and funny scenes. The story is excellent, funny, and held our attention from start to finish. Another story, more serious, that was recognizable and interesting to the young was "Hansel and Gretel". I think one thing that made this one so interesting is the closeness of the two children - Hansel, the Big brother, lovingly looked out for and took care of his little sister. Also, good lessons were taught throughout the entire story along the way. I at first wanted to show all of the tales back-to-back to the kids; however, since the tales are long and slower moving than today's fast paced tales the kids are use to seeing, I could not do that. The kids could only look at one tale, with a long break in-between (hours, even days); even I got tired, and I love all of the tales. Even so, having the complete series set is good to have, as you can just "thumb" through the discs and watch any of the tales at any time, and the price is excellent!!!

Not your average Fairy tale
I remembered this from when I was a teenager but after watching it now, I realize these are not really for children. They have suggestive humor and light swearing from time to time but not offensive. It is very entertaining to see all the up and coming stars. Many are very famous today. I think this set will become a classic and may even attract a cult following in the future. It makes for a fun afternoon when you can curl up with a blanket,a cup of cocoa and escape from everyday life and serious movies. I have always loved, "Happily Ever After" and this set delivers!I remembered this from when I was a teenager but after watching it now, I realize these are not really for children. Memories
I watched these fairy tales from Shelley Duvall, with my kids, years ago when they were children. We still talk about some of them so, I decided to get the set for them. I am very pleased with the quality of the fairy tales and it is fun to see all the famous actors in these roles. The box and DVDs were in excellent condition even though they were used.

This collection of re-told Faeriy Tales features some of the worlds most well known actors and musicians - the entire collection can be enjoyed by all members of the family and all ages will appreciate and remember the classic stories. Each of the films are true to the original stories with detailed sets, suptuous costuming and gorgeous scenery, I loved each of them as a child and still love them as an adult.
