Most reliable engine I've flown
Easy to maintain, tune, and has the most consistent flights. When time comes to rebuild, it's the easiest to do for labor, and the most supported for parts. Saito discontinues their parts too rapidly. The surpass is the most flexible on fuel type as well. Been flying 45 years. Saito is a lighter engine, but delicate in a crash situation.

BEST 91 FOUR STROKE EVER MADE!
The OS FS91 Surpass is the most reliable and most fuel efficient engine of it's size/class. The early Surpass engine is far less liable to develop oil fouling in the exhaust port due to the EGR system employed in the Surpass II. There were more of these engines sold and in use than any other OS four stroke engine--they're everywhere. I have found this engine to use 25% less fuel than it's Saito counterpart and I have six of these engines in my fleet, flying in regular rotation. Use 100% synthetic oil in your fuel and keep the exhaust lightly smoking at full throttle and you will be rewarded with a fine performing engine for years and years of use.The OS FS91 Surpass is the most reliable and most fuel efficient engine of it's size/class.
