    Oldie but goodie

I've had three of these cameras. Small enough for a pocket but remember to take them out before doing laundry - the first two didn't survive the washer. They are very easy to use and will do most anything the really expensive ones do. Only 7.2 MP but that's plenty for what I want - low light, flash on/off or auto, video with sound, macro, wide angle, zoom, etc. My wife has bought newer and fancier cameras but I keep coming back to this one.

  • Loved it so much, I bought another.

I've owned a new version of this camera since Nov 2007. I finally dropped it and cracked the LCD viewfinder, but the camera still worked perfectly using the manual viewfinder. Just bought a lightly used one on ebay, and I must say, for the average $60 - $100 used pricing out there, this is one solid camera for the buck. It's loaded with features, takes awesome looking photos in AUTO mode, and the video cam feature works great in even modestly lit enviroments. I do suggest using a MS Pro Duo flash memory with this camera for the higher data read/write speeds. I also suggest getting a SONY AUTHORIZED extended warranty on any of their cameras. Accidents happen and the limited warranty won't cover 'dropping the camera'. Fibbing about it won't help either because the repair service ...

  • A deluxe camera that still delivers nice results and fun features

One of Sony´s top of the line Point and shoot that let you go beyond the basics thru some advance features like 3 picture bracketing (+-0.3, +-0.7, +-1.0) ISO 100-3200, VGA video, Optical viewfinder, 3x zoom with Optical stabilizer (dish digital stabilizer, it sucks) multi, center and spot metering, Carl Zeiss Lens (2.8-5.2), prefix focus to 0.5m, 1m, 3m, 7m and infinite distances, flash EV (limited to low and high) and a Real time luminosense histogram. This review is writen in 2012 so the 7.1 megapixel might seem lacking but the fact is megapixels alone don´t mean a better picture, sensor technology and image processing are more important, still the quality of the picture is very good, better than another digital cam I had which had 12 megapixels. Colors are nice and you get a histogram ...

  • Great Camera for Price

This camera is to replace an older Olympus model. I decided to buy the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 because of the reviews it received from Consumer Reports. After looking on Ebay I found one for a great price, around $150. Please note this didn't come with any extras (memory, case, etc.). I used the camera for a day or two and I have found it much more user friendly and quicker than my old Olympus. I also like how compact and light the Sony is, very important to me. However, it does seem that lighting is an issue for me at the start. Maybe I just need to set it differently for indoor shooting, hopefully that is all. But right now the shots I have taken indoors with not much lighting come out a bit discolored (orange tint). Overall I'd buy again, hopefully the updated model will have ...

  • Closer to Pocket Camera

This camera comes closer to really fitting in a pocket or purse than any other I've ever owned. Clear pictures. "Button down to snap" respose time is excellent. Battery life much better than some. I also have a Panasonic DMC-TZ1 which has a 10X Zoom. This camera only has 3X zoom which is a disadvantage in bringing in some more distant shots. I would have preferred a regular SD card for picture files. This one has a Memory Stick Pro card which is not quite as common to retrieve pictures off for computer or other printer. Picture quality is good. Ease of use is quite good. No capability to print date on pictures. I purchased this camera because a testing magazine recommended this one quite highly. And I will get lots of good use out of it because it is compact and good pictures to ...
