Product Information

One of the most popular gaming consoles of all time, the 16-bit Sega Genesis CDX introduced Americans to popular characters like Sonic the Hedgehog. In 1992, Sega Launched the Sega CD, an add-on that allowed developers to take advantage of the excellent storage space and graphics offered by CD-ROMs. This meant a more immersive and stunning gaming experience was now available to gamers. “Dragon's Lair,” “Sonic CD,” and “Earthworm Jim Special Edition” are just a few of the iconic video games that were released on CD with improved graphics. This Sega Genesis CDX console is fully backward-compatible, so it is capable of playing any Sega video game disc. This CDX game system can even run your audio compact discs. This makes it essentially a 16-bit CDX video game system that can double as a CD player. There is a backlit LCD screen on the console, which will show you the status of each player. Weighing 1.5 pounds, it is easy to take with you anywhere you go, and it is easy to set up. Its compact size and headphone port allow it to run audio CDs on the go, using only two AA batteries. The CDX has front-mounted CD control buttons and an extra line-out port so that you can connect it to your stereo equipment. To play Sega Genesis cartridge games, you simply need to put the game in the cartridge slot at the back of the unit. CD-style games can easily be played by installing them in the top-loading compact disc drive located on top. This unit must be directly powered to an AC power outlet and connected to a television for video output. All of the necessary cables come standard with this product. The power button, which is located on the center front of the unit, has a two-position toggle switch. On both sides of the power button, you will find a controller port. The AV out port is on the left side. The AC to DC adapter is at the back for when you want to use it as a battery-powered portable CD player.

    this is the perfect genesis console, you can play original Genesis cartridges, Sega CD Games and if you add the 32X upgrade , 32X games 2.

    A must have piece of collection, if you have the money ;)

    A small but very powerful package! Takes about 1/3 of the space of a normal model 2 Sega/Mega CD with a model 2 Genesis / Mega Drive and serves the same propouse. Also, only one AC adapter instead of 2! Here you can have the best of 2 worlds and a very rare piece of videogame history! And if you really need to, you can also stick 2 AA batteries and use it as a portable cd player :) PS: Both the 32x and the Master System / Power Base Converter works with this system.

    One of the great video game consoles in the history of video game systems!

    Not much needs to be said about this system. It was awesome back then and still produces fun on all levels. A very easy to use system. No loading like newer game platforms. There's a large game selection. And right now it's a value play with it being not too expensive. The only down side is the compatibility with newer HD tvs. I hope someone solves this problem soon that way we all can enjoy it on our HDtvs.

    Still an amazing pint size console, a Must have for any collector or gamer.

    In its hayday this console absolutely could not be beat in terms of graphics or audio. If you had this as a kid you were the cool kid on the block and for good reason. It was smaller than the portable cd player my mom had! The fact that it doubled as a portable cd-player head-phone jack included was pretty cool to say the least. With the ability to play both Genesis and Sega CD games the game library is unbelievably huge. It can even play books on cds! Like any cd/dvd based system with heavy use the laser can get weaker, but it is far more reliable than the newest xbox or playstation systems will ever be.

    A legendary system from when SEGA ruled the arcade and living rooms

    Sega Genesis Model 2 is by far the best bang for your buck that you can get nowadays if you're starting up a classic game collection. The system is fantastic with a great design and its very easy to hook up and play. The controllers are the best of the early 90's and are so much better than the SNES controller it isn't even a contest. The games are very cheap now, most around 5 bucks. So buy tons cuz most are truly unique and have so much more heart than new games on 360 or PS3.
