Praise for Lundy Bancroft and Why Does He Do That? "Bancroft has opened a window into the thinking of abusive men, and his book helps open a door out of abusive relationships."--Gavin de Becker, New York Times bestselling author of The Gift of Fear and Fear Less "Most books about abuse in relationships focus on women--how they're hurt, why they stay. As important as these questions are, they can also distract us from the heart of the problem. Bancroft boldly asks--and brilliantly answers--the most important questions of all: Why do so many men abuse women? What can be done about it? This book is desperately needed and long overdue."--Jackson Katz, creator of the award-winning video Tough Guise: Violence, Media and the Crisis in Masculinity "This fascinating investigation into what makes abusive men tick is alarming but its candid handling of a difficult subject makes it a valuable resource for professionals and victims alike...Jargon-free analysis is frequently broken up by interesting first-person accounts and boxes that distill in-depth information into simple checklists. Bancroft's book promises to be a beacon of calm for many storm-tossed families."-- Publishers Weekly "Bancroft, a former codirector of Emerge, the first U.S. program for abusive men, and a 15-year veteran of work with abusive men, reminds readers that each year in this country, two to four million women are assaulted by their partners and that at least one out of three American women will be a victim of violence by a husband or boyfriend at some point in her life. His valuable resource covers early warning signs, ten abusive personality types, the abusive mentality, problems with getting help from the legal system, and the long, complex process of change...This is essential reading for those in the helping professions and highly recommended."-- Library Journal, "Bancroft has opened a window into the thinking of abusive men, and his book helps open a door out of abusive relationships."--Gavin de Becker, New York Times bestselling author of The Gift of Fear and Fear Less "Most books about abuse in relationships focus on women--how they're hurt, why they stay. A+++++ Seller! Professor's syllabus listed the wrong book for the course, and told us of the mistake the first day of class. Contacted seller textbooks_source ASAP, and they were able to stop and refund the first order. I then purchased this textbook as the correct book for the course. Textbook received as described. This is a great seller. I would (and did) purchase from again. A++++++!!!!!!!

Perfection And Knowledge At It's Best!

Love the book. It covers Everything! You can really understand the mind of an abuser and why he thinks and acts like he does. If you are living with an abuser, be prepared for a strong dose of reality. This book will make you realize just how disturbing his or her behavior is. It will make you notice just how immune to their behavior that you get. I was reading this and looking at my husband but not in the same way I use to look at him. There is no excuse for their behavior. Some of us go through far worst things in our lives then they do and we don't choose to treat people that way. It's really an excellent read and an eye opener. I hope if you choose to stay or leave, you find some kind of peace.

  • Making sense of craziness

This book is so informative, it opened my eyes to the truth and made sense of a lot of craziness that was happening in my life. It's so catchy too, once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I highly recommended.

  • A MUST READ

This book had such great insight. This author really understands angry and/abusive/moody men. Reading this book was a wake up call for me. As a wife, I was in denial about just how severe the abuse was in my marriage. This book made me see my husband without the blinders on.

  • Very Informative

Easy to read format. I liked that I could skip to the sections that pertained to my particular situation, rather than reading the entire narrative, hoping to see something I could identify with. The author really knows her subject, and presents it easily understood language.

  • Eye opening

My counselor and Domestic abuse hotline recommended this book, and it made me realize my bf at the time is an abuser. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't read this. He fell into 3 categories out of 10 different types of abusers!
