    Appropriate for a film where it's difficult to distinguish between the good and bad.

    With this film Eastwood most likely closed the door on any future westerns worth watching. No question he is the last of the great western actors who were able to feel the role, the era and bring it to the viewer. Does a good job presenting the end of a very tough era when the west was close to being closed for good.

    Possibly the top-of-the-line format for Unforgiven

    You need to review this Blu-ray Disc film (2006 issue) before letting non-adults watch it due to subject matter. "Unforgiven" is generally considered Clint Eastwood's definitive work. An excellent story and acting by all. Morgan Freeman has gained a lot of respect over the last few years and this film highlights this. I got the feeling that Gene Hackman stumbled into this movie and had his own vision of his role - he's really capable of better but it seems that he didn't apply himself 100%. This is one of those movies you'll remember for years. The format is vastly superior to the VHS format and a bit better than most DVD formats. Absolutely outstanding although the subject matter is not recommended for everyone. The review is based on this item only ...

    Only Clint Eastwood could get away with this.

    As the king of Westerns, Clint Eastwood apparently decided that they had over-glorified violence, and the gritty life of the old west. He decided to make a movie that showed that the life of real gunslingers was nasty, short and brutish. And that killing was not a glorious triumph, but a dirty, sleezy business. He succeeded brilliantly, and this movie single-handedly changed our romantic view of the old west forever. A great movie, deserving of its Oscars. But be warned, if you love the older style of westerns, seeing Unforgiven may ruin your ability to enjoy other westerns; they'll just never look quite the same again.

    Clint Eastwood's return to The West.

    All I can say about this movie is that the blu-ray edition is better than the DVD edition. Clint Eastwood just fits into the western-genre.
