An Inexpensive Clamp Meter with Bluetooth Capability
Holdpeak's 570S-APP clamp meter is the true RMS version of the 570C-APP meter. (True RMS meters read accurately with distorted AC waveforms, which is generally a good thing.) The meter itself is capable of measuring AC and DC voltage, temperature, resistance, capacitance, diodes and both of AC and DC current. This is a physically large clamp meter, and like most inexpensive meters, there have been some shortcuts taken in terms of safety and robustness. While you shouldn't expect that this will hold up like any big name brand model, it's still accurate and useful. It does appear to be better made than the more basic 570C-APP model. Unlike that which comes with the 570C-APP meter, this meter's companion application is pretty hokey. Clearly written for Holdpeak by a third party, it's made to ... I doubt it will happen, but I'd like to see a proper meter-focused application designed for this meter without any requirement to sign in or create an account. With the right software, this meter could also be used with a portable computer. I'd like to see some meter manufacturer (or even a motivated third party) support this with their Bluetooth wireless meter products.
