This is the ultimate Layout Design book. Some call it the bible. I bought this one because my copy was a bit dog eared and this one was a great buy! This book, by John Armstrong, contains the basic tenents of the practice of model railroad design and is a must for every newcomer to the hobby and an absolute in the basic reference library of every model railroader. It contains the detailed explanation of the planning basics, how to use "squares", how to compress the prototype, and most importantly how to go about determining what you want in your model railroad.
