    Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 Ai-s Great lens!

This lens is so good that Nikon still produces and sells it brand new to this date. I always wanted to have this lens. It is famous worldwide amongst the old school news paper photographers. The first question almost everybody ask today is: Is this lens sharp? There are way more things about a lens than sharpness. It takes time to get to know the "character" of a lens. How does it respond to tone gradation? color rendition? bouquet at different apertures? and so on... This lens at f/1.4 gives this wonderful dreamy looks and an awesome bouquet that no other lens has! if one only wants sharpness it gets there by f/2.0 and downwards. Manual focus is a breeze with all the light it gathers. Of course it is not easy to focus at f/1.4 for the depth of field is so narrow. It takes knowledge and ...

  • Great optics for night and black and white photography

I wanted to have this beautiful wide-angle lens longingly for my photographic experience. The reasons to buy this 40 years old design lens for my Nikon FM3a camera are simple:-I would use it with my manual focus camera as standard lens.-Much better mechanics and high quality construction.-Suitable for night photography.İt gives the speed that I needed for use in low light situations.-Cheaper as compared to AF lenses which are designed for speed on AF cameras and therefore are more expensive.-Great optics which had fine reputation as being one of the best Nikon wide-angle.I call it my jewel and plan to carry it with me for taking nice pictures.

  • One of the Great Nikon vintage lenses

Being an old Nikon shooter, this lens suits my need for a quality manual focus prime lens. This along with my Nikkor 55mm f1.2 lens shooting incredibly sharp images with my Nikon Df is a joy.

  • Super sharp semi-wide angle prime lens after f2

The Nikon Nikkor 35 mm f1.4 Ai-S certainly lives up to its long standing reputation as a real professional quality semi-wide angle prime lens. It is extremely sharp after f2. It is one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used and owned. When the aperture is set at f1.4, it is somewhat soft. Since I hardly shoot at f1.4, it is not an issue for me. If you need a crisp and clear image, then this fine lens should be in your camera bag at all times. Compared to the other lenses of equivalent focal length and aperture made by Leica and Zeiss, this lens is cost effective. I highly recommend it.

  • Very good lens especially in low light conditions

I have a Nikkor AF-S lenses, but for several years I'm looking for manual Nikkor lenses. Especially aperture f 2.8 down for my Nikon FM2n and D700. As new Nikkor lens are more expensive, a good and affordable alternative are Manual old lenses . This lens have a great optical design and are very well made and useful for digital cameras. Till today is posible to get excellent examples of manual lenses. Modern lenses will not last as many years as the good old manual lenses. Think if new lens have a break af-s engine? How much will it cost to repair?
