Better than expected. Definitely a good alternative to sewing.
I've used Tear Mender a few times in the past year and I'd have to say that it's better than I expected it to be. The pros of the product from my experience are that it reduces repair time of fabrics when compared to sewing. It dries to an almost water tight seal depending on how much you use in a specific area. It also has a twist top that makes it more user friendly. And with proper care, the bond it creates between the fabrics can last a very long time, if not indefinitely. As for the cons, the liquid dries to a rubbery consistency that has a pale yellowish appearance to it. In addition, it creates a fairly strong bond, but I recommend using the product in combination with sewing for maximum strength if the item you are repairing is meant for rough use.I've used Tear Mender a few times in the past year and I'd have to say that it's better than I expected it to be. MAY work ok on some materials... DO NOT USE ON WHITE or light colored cotton. It left my white long sleeve T shirt with a nasty Yellow stain when glue dried. Trash... but it did seal tear.......

This is very thin compared to other products, which is a good thing! It spreads evenly and easily and begins to set in 3 Minutes. I bonded some of the soft side of velcro to a pouch as a test. It held over 20 lbs before tearing. That is one good adhesive in my book. Because of the thin liquid you need to shake it very well before using and it is very easy to apply with no stringy leftover if you miss a bit. I am inpressed by the strength and the ease of use. I will order again and have confidence that it will work for many uses the other stuff just does not work on. Highly recommended. I am planning on getting a few of these just to have them around. It's good, but not all-purpose.
So, this stuff smells kind of like pepsin; Think Pepto-Bismol or Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. I never really liked the smell, but it's not terrible. When exposed to air, it dries within minutes, becoming a rubbery white, silicon texture. The benefit is that you can hold something in place in real-time to have it set. The downside is you have to work quickly, or it'll dry out. The stuff has a shelf life of about a year in the fridge if you reseal the bottle under the cap with plastic wrap between uses. It can be used after that, but you'll have to dig past a hardened plug to get to the liquid with varying success. I've used it for bonding fabric strips over inside boot seams (After sewing), and for that, it worked quite well. I've also used it for attaching sweat bands to hats, and I would ... When constantly exposed to heat and moisture, the compound breaks down into a sticky goo that does not re-harden. The sweatbands of the hats came off after long use, and what remained was a sticky goo that was impossible to remove from the felt. Even with the bands on, they slide out of place, and the goo smears everywhere and gets on the head.
