    Manila Envelopes by George F. Telfer (1987)

    I was very surprised when I received this book. I bought it, hoping to learn more about the Spanish American War which my grandfather had served in as part of the Oregon Volunteers. This book far exceeded my expectations. It was published by the Oregon Historical Society, is extremely well researched, documented and organized. Every paragraph is packed with detail about this period of our history. I couldn't be more pleased at having made this purchase. The subject is covered from an up close and personal experience by Mr. Telfer. Every aspect of the journey is disclosed with marvelous candor. The photos are excellent, as well. If you are considering adding this to your "bid life", go for it! You won't be disappointed.

    Manila Envelopes

    I bought the book because it's about the Filipino American War. Hardly anything writen about it. I never knew we fought the Americans. I was raised up knowing Americans are good people. I found out about it through my parents when my mother mention to me that we have a war with the Americans because my grandfathers was involved in it as a " Filipino-Scouts", The Macabebe Scouts.
