A one piece non-folding hunting knife with leather sheath

Had this same knife years ago, was amazed at how ergonomic it is for skinning game. The rounded blade goes right where your finger does, hence the name "Sharpfinger". Shade knives have a long history of quality. Love that there is a drilled hole in the handle to attach a rustic leather lace or whatever you wish to hang on a peg.

    Not the same Schrade quality

I stated this was a good value because, for the price it is still a usable knife, that will last for some time. I will not recommend this knife if you are looking for the "Fit and Finish" and blade harness of an old Schrade product. This a clearly an "off shore" knock off. The fit of the handle and final grinding to match the tang is so poor that I will have to rework it myself, for fear of getting blisters during heavy use. This is after all, a tool. I bought for use as a gardening knife, it will get much use once the handle fit is worked. Does not hold an edge as long as the older knives, but sharpens quickly, so keep you sharpener of choice nearby. The seller I bought this from was AA+ and did state that it was not the old maker, I took a chance. What the heck, it is still a ...

  • Best by far

This is by far the best knife I've ever owned, and I've owned several. The quality of steel in the blade is awesome. It holds an edge, is easy to sharpen and looks terrific. I've always been known to carry sharp knives, however this one takes it to a whole new level. I recently bought a Damascus blade, not a big fan. This Old Timer is just what it says, old school. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've recommended this one to several people, and that's something I very rarely do. This will be my "go to" blade from now one, (sorry Case XX).

  • A Heritage Gift

Another new child born into our family, and the thought comes in my mind, "What might I give this new member of our family that will be worth keeping as a token of remembrance of a great-grandfather when I am no longer around. This is a child born to a family of farmers-ranchers-hunters and hard working outdoors-loving generations. A knife that will last and serve its purpose without issues is always a great gift, and the Schrade knives I have owned and used throughout my life have been collected, and now passed on to my children, my grandchildren and now to the great grandchildren. These Schrade knives I have selected for the newest generation will last far beyond my mortal allowance, and as each knife was purchased on the day of the child's birth and engraved with initials and date of ...

  • Well manufactured it's fit and finish are excellent. It is Chinese, but that's okay!

The 7Cr17Mov steel 54-57 (Rockwell hardness) is a good "compromise" steel. It is hard enough to hold a decent edge and takes an edge quickly. The contours of the blade are such that as a skinner the knife works extremely well. While it isn't 440C nor is it 1095 Carbon Steel, the somewhat softer steel is more than adequate for the implement's intended tasks. Since this Sharpfinger is wholly manufactured in China, it costs less than it would had it been fabricated in the United States of America. The closest that you can get to an "American made" version would come from Bear & Sons Model 753 that knife is in 440C, and you'll pay more for it. If you are willing to "touch up" the blade on a pair of aluminum ceramic crockery sticks (such as the Spyderco Tri-angle "Sharpmaker") after skinning a ...
