The visibility of the viewfinder and rangefinder is good - without distortion, focusing is slightly stiff due to prolonged inactivity, requires lubrication and development. The diaphragm operation is smooth and pleasant. The diaphragm blades are dry and free of excess lubrication. The shutter shows operability and by ear works all shutter speeds correctly in time, but the second of the curtains is jammed or clamped and does not spin on the drum (shown in the photo), so we are not talking about the full and correct operation of the camera - (service and maintenance are needed). The lens Sonnar 1:2 f=5cm is not native to the Leica camera, but it is very expensive and fully suitable for shooting with this camera.”

an instant conversation piece, bought for a reasonable price, no regrets
This camera was bought more to display than to use. Everything seems to work on it, but even if it is a russian replica, it is replicating an eighty odd year old design. Nonetheless, the workmanship is better than the average russian camera, and it can fool many people. The replicator however may need a german thesaurus - he spelled "krigsmarine" instead of "kreigsmarine" on the camera top. I showed the camera to many people, but only I noticed the misspelling, so no harm,no foul. There are far more ornate replicas out there, this one is simple, and pleasant. A nice deal overall. By the way this replica "belonged" to U boat 271, which was sunk off of the Irish coast in late 1944 or early 1945. I wonder how many different U Boats are represented by the ... This camera is as classy as the original Leica's with a little more visual P-ZAZ. If you like the feel and fun of using old analog technology, then one of these is right for you. Unlike the simple digital/auto units of today, these older units offer the photo enthusiast a little mental challenge to learn the older film methods. The PICS you get from these are really cool to look at, especially if you go all the way and shoot in black & white.This camera is as classy as the original Leica's with a little more visual P-ZAZ.
