About this product

Product Information

The third Harvest Moon game on Nintendo DS is the first to take place on a tropical island. After being shipwrecked, you and a family of four must gradually develop the untamed land to make it habitable. Tasks such as planting seeds, growing crops, and raising livestock are once again a key part of the gameplay. The overall goal is to turn the island into a thriving community that will attract outsiders and expand the farmland. Players can choose either a boy or girl farmer and interact with 100 characters in total. Island of Happiness also supports the handheld's Nintendo Wi-fi Connection for online farming with friends.

  • Great addition to the series

I LOVE this game! The island is great, and makes a great new take on an old story. As usual, I love the quirky characters. The cut scenes never fail to crack me up. For fans of the series, I highly recommend it. A drawback was the slow pace of gaming (although I suppose that can be positive as well). Also, before many characters show up to the island it's hard to get really into the gameplay. It quickly picks up though once you have more money and hit certain milestones in the game. One thing I really hate is the system of movement with the DS. It's similar to Harvest Moon DS, and I constantly overshoot and lose valuable crops or accidentally throw away my hard-earned produce. This may be just a personal thing, though, as other people I know have no problems with it.

  • Excellent Game!

This game was an excellent addition to my nintendo game library. The game is a nice step up from Animal Crossing, and I recommend it to any Animal Crossing players. This game takes place on an uninhabited island and your job is to revitalize it. The game also includes charming features like owning a pet and even getting married. This Game gets four stars out of five.

  • Biggest Disappointment EVER!

I have literally played EVERY Harvest Moon video game ever made. And I have LOVED them all. Until, that is, Island of Happiness came out for the Ninetendo DS. I hurried out and purchased it the very same day it went on sale in the stores, rushed home, and eagerly opened the game to start playing. What a MAJOR disappointment. It was so bad, that I will not waste another second of time on that game which is hard for me to say. Ninendo and the makers of Harvest Moon Island of Happiness really took steps backwards in development and game play with this newest version of my favorite video game series ever. Everything is controled by your stylus pen making gameplay tedious, tiresome, and not very comfortable. DS users having played the previous versions of Harvest Moon were used to being able ...

  • fun long term game

I reccomend the guide for insite in this game! this not a little kids game its not graphic its complex a lot to do to compleet this game get the guide! I love games like this its hours of fun. you are a rancher taking care of an abandon island as you work your but off improving roads and bridges, growing crops tending livestock people slowly move to the island. you can get married and work in a mine too...fun fun! drawback you have to use the styles way to much.It would have been better to use the d-pad to walk around!

  • Harvest Moon: Island of Happines

This is the 7th game in the Harvest Moon handheld series (not counting the Rune Factory games). If you are a fan of older versions of the game (Back to Nature, 64) you will like this fresh new reincarnation of farm life. Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness has a fresh new set of characters, including new marriage candidates. The only downside is that these characters lack a little of the personality of the older games, but it's nice to see Natsume try something besides recycling the sprites of fan favorites. This game has a level of detail and micromanagement far beyond the other Harvest Moon games. With tons of unlockables and upgrades, this game will keep you busy long beyond the series' tradition Year 3 ending. It's a bit disappointing that Natsume took a step back and your child can't ...
