About this product

Product Information

Enter the world of slasher films by trying to defeat the mask-wearing monster Jason Voorhees in the Nintendo Entertainment System game Friday the 13th. Play as one of six camp counselors and travel around Camp Crystal Lake protecting the campers by fighting off Jason when he enters a cabin or the lake. Switch out counselors as health deteriorates or to take advantage of their speed or fighting abilities. The game utilizes a map that you can check frequently to determine Jason's location or the location of other counselors to make a character swap. The lack of enemies stays true to the movie by keeping Jason as the primary villain.

    A Frighteningly Terrible Game!

Based off the "movie(s)", Friday the 13th on NES features goofy enemies, nonsensical gameplay, bizarre graphics, and an awfully crafted frustrating map system. Play it late at night for some good laughs.

    Classic Cheese

It's Friday the 13th.... So if you're a horror fan it's a must have. Honestly though, the game isn't that great. You basically run around lighting fireplaces and trying to save campers/kids. The main thing I don't like about the game is that the map is not very useful and navigation from cabin to cabin can be troublesome. Buy it, play it for a couple of times, and put it on your collectors shelf....

  • A rare, well-made LJN title with a genuinely frighting Jason!

Probably the best product from the dubious LJN. The controls are nice, the graphics are well done, and while the outdoors music can be grating, the music in the cabins is wonderfully haunting. The game is genuinely frightening, and this is helped by the CPU keeping track of Jason throughout the game. Travelling on the road, visiting cabins, and boating across the lake, Jason can potentially spring up anywhere and while being driven away, he will realistically travel to find a cabin to rest or stalk another victim down the same path you have encountered him; he doesn't randomly spawn around the map. The game is not problem free, the zombies you encounter are ridiculous, the default rock weapon requires you to be ducking, and the Crystal Lake map can be difficult and not intuitive, and the ...

  • Friday the 13th (NES) is Very DIfficult

This game is about wandering around a summer camp as a camp counseller in an effort to save the children from a serial killer, hoping to avoid getting killed yourself. This game has nostalgic value for me. As a kid I saw others playing and would be scared senseless by Jason's abrupt attacks, which can come at any time. I bought it again now so I could have a chance to conquer it for once and overcome how scary the game always has been to me. Other games that scared and overwhelmed me as much are Jaws and Maniac Mansion, both of which I own and have now beaten. I love how tense and scary it is. I hate how difficult it is to navigate and how random the item appearances are. A lot of beating this game is random chance, and a game should never be like that because it takes away ...

  • NES Friday the 13th game

Recently purchased a Friday the 13th NES game. The game worked with no issues and once I started playing it remind me of the days when I was a kid. Then I quickly remembered how frustrating the game was. Would definitely buy from this person again. Received item quickly.
