About this product

Product Information

Originally crafted and designed for use with the Soviet-made cameras, the Jupiter 12 lens easily fits onto Leica and Contax models. Thanks to the versatile design, this 35 mm f/2.8 lens may also be used on many different camera models. The aperture of the Jupiter camera lens creates brilliant illumination for every single photo no matter what kind of camera, producing not just perfect lighting but clear and sharp edges as well. At almost any distance, the Jupiter 12 lens will focus beautifully wherever it's pointed to capture images with sharp edges for precise, perfect detail. This 35 mm f/2.8 lens is crafted with six elements in four groups for precise picture taking that records images beautifully. Overall, the Jupiter 12 lens weighs a mere 130 g, less than 0.2 lb, so light it's nearly weightless whether it's attached to the camera or tucked into the camera bag. The coated lens is self-shaded, so it needs no hood to prevent flares and other lighting problems that might otherwise destroy that perfect photo. Even casual photographers can capture gorgeous photographs with the Jupiter camera lens, even when the scenery or the subject is as a great distance. The Jupiter 12 lens was made to last, and made to record beautiful images with crisp edges and sharply focused detail. With the right lens, it's possible to preserve all those wonderful little details so the eye can enjoy them again and again.

  • An excellent lens for old good mechanical times and film photo

This lens is interesting for me because I still make black and white photos with my film camera Kiev-4 (Russian copy of German Contax). The camera itself is very good making a surprizingly qualitive pictures, especially with small-grain film like Ilford Delta. Standard lens Jupiter 2/50 is also very good but wide angle Jupiter 12 sometimes is more usefull. The apperture scale allows you to have almost all the distances in focus, so you even don't need to focus thrue the viefinder, just set an appropriate distance (I usually set infinity, even not a medium distance). One uncommon feature: the apperture ring is combined with the front glass|ring, so if you use a filter (normally yellow), you see the figures through the filter and turn the ring together with filter. This is not common, but ...

  • something very unique

I have two years Leica M9. I decided I wanted to buy her extra lenses and searched the internet and of course eBay is something that could be suitable for my budget. After reading an article (in one of the blogs) on this lens immediately I got to the suggestions on eBay, and I contacted one of the sellers through eBay. Seller was very nice and was very helpful and gave me a lot of information I needed to complete the purchase in the end. its quality and Excellent lens, I would even define it as very special. Lens is small and light and very easy to make a manual focus. The colors it produces are high-quality and special as its sharpness. I highly recommend anyone who wants a high quality lens purchased it. Good quality of its construction and in its special and something very unique.

  • Surprisingly good lens

So light that you hardly feel it on your camera, and surprisingly good optical quality. I haven't shot any color film with it, but my black and white negatives seem extremely sharp. The only unorthodox thing about it is that you set the aperture by turning the ring inside the lens barrel and looking down inside it. This would be unworkable if you use a very dark filter like an infrared, but with normal yellow or orange filters it's no problem. You just have to unlearn an old habit! The Jupiter-12 must be the best lens bargain out there.

  • Simply beautiful.

Simply beautiful. On my digital camera, this lens renders colors as though they were shot on Fuji Velvia. The "bokeh" is gorgeous.. It's compact, light weight and well made.

  • Great Lens

It's small and sharp. I love this lens.
