PLOT: BARBARA STANWYCK AS A INVALID WIFE WHO hears a plot to KILL someone~ and finds out it is HERSELF~ NOIR CLASSIC THRILLER~ BARBARA STANWYCK shines as this very ANNOYING selfcentered rich Wich~ who marries Burt Lancaster~ HE IS quickly bored with his invalid wife~ and her father~ HE IS GIVEN A JOB IN MANAGEMENT IN THE FAMILY DRUG BUSINESS~ BUT has a SCHEME WITH A CHEMIST AND HOOD TO MAKE SOME ILLEGAL PROFIT FOR HIMSELF~ mean while Leona (Stanwyck) has a bad heart and may DIE~ SO HENRY SIGNS IOU~ WITH THE PLAN WHEN LEONA DIES HE CAN PAY THE HOOOD OFF WITH HER LIFE INSURANCE~ THE problem is she does not die LOL~ now old Henry had to kill her~ mean WHILE VERY LEONA IS MORE AND MORE MANIPULATIVE, WHINEY AND DEMANDING FROM HER LOVELY BEDROOM SHE HAS EVERYONE JUMPING~ ONE EVENING THE NURSE ...
