About this product

Product Information

This groundbreaking and critically adored crime drama from super-producer Stephen Bochco (NYPD BLUE) aired from 1981 to 1986, and boasted one of the first ensemble casts on TV. Set in a fictional town based on Chicago, the action centered on a chaotic police precinct torn by crime and racial tension, and provided a very realistic view of the private and work lives of everyone from the beat cops to the police captain. HILL STREET BLUES established the fast-paced, gritty, verité style that would spawn countless imitators. In the second season, the relentless barrage of crime continues, beginning when an ex-gang leader returns and reclaims his place at the top of the Black Arrow gang.

    Return to "The Hill"

After all these years, returning to the gritty well-done stories of Hill Street Precinct in the unknown city of the early 1980s was so enjoyable, I bought additional CDs to follow the entire series. The acting is superb, the storylines range from deadly, intriguing to humorous - a mix that won the cast and writers major accolades at the time, and were well-deserved. Hill Street Blues set the pace for subsequent crime–related TV series, with strong characters showing both strengths and human frailties. They have lasted through the test of time. It is sad to know that three of the major players are gone, especially Michael Conrad, who died during filming of the fourth season. His character, Sgt. Phil Esterhouse, was a real pleasure -- from his trademark "Let's be careful out there," to his ...

  • Hill Street Blues Season 2

I did'nt know I could find this old of a TV series. I have always loved this show as I was married to a poloice officer. We would watch this show just before he had to leave for work on the midnight shift. It was so real to life back then. I hope to be able to find the rest of the series on ebay also. I have found this to be a really enlightening show and I love the old TV shows. I am also looking for in the heat of the night starring Carrol O'Conner if that is possible,it is also a good show. But if you get the chance to see this dvd Hill Street Blues watch it, it really is a great show if your into the older tv shows the way I am. Well happy ebaying and take care....

  • Hill Street Blues - Season 2

The series is too much like a day-time soap. There isn't enough crime solving and too much display of inter-personal relationships. I am also watching Kojak, Streets of San Francisco and Cagey/Lacy. Those dramas are better and faster pace. I will resale Hill Street Blues on eBay, but keep the other TV dramas in my personal collection.

  • The first great ensemble drama

Hill Street Blues was the first "cop show" to portray the men in blue in a realistic light. Filled with gritty, humorous characters and situations, it cleared the path for future shows like “NYPD Blue” and “Homicide, Life on the street”. The show blended storylines with the personal lives of the characters, and each character was portrayed with strengths and weaknesses as being utterly human. The actors were among the best I’ve seen. I was delighted when it became available on dvd, and when I watched it again, it lived up to my memories of seeing it the first time. I look forward to the release of the rest of the seasons of this series on dvd

  • Excellent
