The hilarious Dana Carvey showcases his dazzling impersonation skills in MASTER OF DISGUISE, a comedy about an innocent man who discovers that he has a rare, though mildly annoying, gift. Carvey is Pistachio Disguisey, a waiter who is plagued by the bad habit of impersonating the people he serves. He is constantly taking on alternate identities but cannot figure out why he feels so compelled to imitate other people. That is, until he learns that it's a genetic trait in the Disguisey family, shared even by his grandfather. When his parents are kidnapped, Pistachio realizes that to return them to safety, he must become a true Master of Disguise. With the aid of his beautiful new assistant, Jennifer (Jennifer Esposito), Pistachio embarks on his mission, portraying a variety of outrageous characters in order to get closer to the evil Devlin Bowman (Brent Spiner) and free his parents (James Brolin and Edie McClurg) from their deadly fate. Carvey and co-screenwriter Harris Goldberg use their lighthearted premise to parody any and every subject that gets in their way, from ethnic culture to pop culture. The result is a breezy affair that never takes itself too seriously. THE MASTER OF DISGUISE also includes cameos by Bo Derek, Michael Johnson, Jesse Ventura, and Jessica Simpson.

Not as I expected
It came fairly quickly but it was listed in like new condition. There’s damage to the case and the disk is all smudged with fingerprints and light scratches. I haven’t checked to see if the DVD plays fine. I hope so because it’s a gift.

Typical Carvey
Dana Carvey has a simple humor that makes you watch his impersonations. Movie was nice but the story was not engaging enough. I love Dana Carvey and you may enjoy all of the works that he put into this movie. Some of his characters were hilarious.

Only One Good Laughable Parody In Whole Film!
Painful is a good way to describe this film. There is not enough time in the day to try and force a bad script on someone when it doesn't work. Dana Carvey co-wrote this with Harris Goldberg and Perry Andelin Blake directed. In order to give this the best chance overall, I'll try and comment on this film fairly. The impersonation Carvey delivered in costume at the party of Tony Montana was really funny. The best, most funny and memorable moment in the entire film was when Dana Carvey was sitting in a boat dressed up like a seaman and did the impersonation of Quint (Robert Shaw 1927-1978) from the Jaws film of 1975. Unfortunately viewers of a certain age were not old enough to recognize where this was coming from. Many of Captain Quint's ramblings in Jaws were actually Shaw's ... His performance as Captain Quint in Jaws (1975) is ranked #28 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time. Some other scenes just fell flat, but the intention was there. There were many good in-jokes as well like Pistacchio's voice impersonation from the hit film Shrek. Since Mike and Dana worked together, I was extremely surprised that Mike was too busy to throw his two cents into the film, even knowing that they have worked together on various projects before and that Adam Sandler was one of the executive producers. The whole Disguisey family tree story and the pop-up manual was just a bad idea from the get go. Sometimes you can't even tell when the jokes had happened. That's how bad they are. The slapping who's your daddy thing really never worked for me. I finally watched this almost 10 years later and I was thinking to myself, I'm glad I didn't see this right after 9/11 because I would have thought the end of the world was coming soon. Dana Carvey's fake Italian accent is extremely annoying. If he had only done a rendition of the church lady in certain places, he might have had something to be proud of. How in the world is repeating the word "turtle" over and over again while dressed in a turtle suit to get into a turtle club supposed to be funny, let alone plausible to the plot? Dana Carvey is the most talented actor on the planet. I just think that this script was all wrong for him. The Brent Spiner character was way over the top and the consistent farting right at the end of his maniacal laugh was not even funny. The cameos of famous people such as Bo Derek, Jessie Ventura, Brittany Spears, Paula Abdul was a really fine touch and there were a great deal of really swinging scenes throughout the film that made it an interesting enterprise. James Brolin was quite swell all the way around here and has much respect from me, although he probably works much better for me in things like Hotel or The Amityville Horror 1979. Now Dana, if you could have just gotten James to do a rendition of George Lutz saying "For God's Sake, Get Out!" and tied it up with Brent Spiner's hideous laugh and gas, then you would have something. Maybe, just maybe in the future, you can go back and remake this film like a "Master of Disguise - Revisited" or something. It would definitely be worth the time and effort. You might be able to do it like the Back to the Future Thing or something. It might have been noted that during the filming of the Turtle scene on 9/11/2001, the cast and crew actually took some time for a moment of silence. It's highly possible that those events stagnated the successful filming of this work.

What a funny and entertaining movie!
I had not seen this movie in a while, so I bought it so that two of my former foster daughters, who have autism, could watch it. I thought that it may entertain them. They are 13 and 14 years old. I had never heard them laugh so much ever. They were screaming and laughing at the same time. I am so glad that I bought it.

This is a wonderful story about an Italian family of Disguisers who use their abilities to protect the world from bad guys! They are quite a bit different from the usual family of super heroes and much more refreshing! The movie is imaginative, charming, and utterly hilarious! It's was so ridiculously funny to watch I sat there with my mouth open. Purchased it for a friend of mine and now I want my own copy! A Must See Movie!This is a wonderful story about an Italian family of Disguisers who use their abilities to protect the world from bad guys!
