    Best version, ever

For me, this set is the best version ever of "Sense and Sensibility" and "Persuasion". The characters in the movie were very well cast. I have the other versions of both movies as well; this one is the best for me. The movies were in keeping with Jane Austen's style of writing. Some producers tend to make her stories-turned-to-movies more modern -- this doesn't work for me. Seller listed this Collector's Set's condition as "good". To me, it was more than "good". It's condition was very, very good.

  • Great for a Jane Austen fan

The movies are very engaging and entertaining. The DVD's played well with no skips. The collectors box was in perfect condition and the two holders look like books. I am very satisfied with the DVD's in this collection.

  • The best Jane Austen book-to-movie version

I fell in love with these Jane Austen book-to-movie interpretations the first time I caught it on Youtube! Especially the Sense & Sensibility version--which I personally believe trumps the one played by Hugh Grant/Emma Thompson from 1995. I'm sure people will think otherwise, but I'm sticking to my guns that you will thoroughly enjoy this from start to finish. The value is excellent as it combines 2 great period movies into 1 beautiful casing is very nice and because each movie sold separately sells for more. Well worth it!

  • Sense and Sensibility BBC video, very enjoyable

I purchased this BBC version of Sense and Sensibility after watching the BBC version of Pride and prejudice which i absolutely loved. Having watched all the different versions of Sense and sensibility i can truly say that this one surpassed all the others. It was beautifully filmed, great acting and a very enjoyable watch. Having just been filmed in year 2008 it has recognizable actors/actresses which is always enjoyable. Although it is quite long,(over 3 hours)it was not a dragged out film. If you enjoy the book or just classic love stories then i think you would enjoy this film.

  • Best Yet

I have all the films of S&S; I have read all Austen's works; this is the best interpretation of the novel I've seen. Are there some liberties taken with the book- yes. I have written before, Austen is like Shakespeare in that the pieces can be interpreted; and here is a masterful job of it. The cinematography was perfect; the location -a windswept sea coast- perfectly conveying the mood of abandonment of the Dashwood family, cast out of their life of luxury in a Regency mansion to a small, bare stone cottage. The characters, for once, actually appeared to be their ages. Even the seduced and abandoned Miss Williams (who appears so briefly, but moves the story along) was an innocent, perfectly cast. Marianne is a teenager; believable in her blinding first love. For once, they ...
