More great memories with the Fab Four!
In 2004, Capitol ended a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the arrival of The Beatles in America when they issued the 4-disc CD set, "The Capitol Albums, Vol. 1", containing the 4 classic LPs issued in 1964. So, it only seemed fitting that they continue this trend by releasing "The Capitol Albums, Vol. 2", which features the 4 albums from 1965; "The Early Beatles", "Beatles VI", "Help!" Original Soundtrack and the American version of "Rubber Soul". The recordings used in this set were originally recorded between 1962 through 1965, Once again, the original American Capitol master tapes were used in producing this set. All tracks appear in both Stereo and Mono versions, as well as in the same configuration first ... In 2004, Capitol ended a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the arrival of The Beatles in America when they issued the 4-disc CD set, "The Capitol Albums, Vol. 1", containing the 4 classic LPs issued in 1964. The only real disappointment here was that the "Help!" album was not rereleased in its original gatefold cover. The interior of this cover shows a remarkable selection of 8 photographs from the movie, including a fabulous shot of the boys in their winter attire on the Austrian ski slopes, connected together by a very long red-and-white striped scarf. There are also 2 paragraphs of fascinating text about the film. It would have been a great idea for Capitol to issue another boxed set containing CD versions of the Stereo and Mono mixes of Vee-Jay's "Introducing The Beatles", United Artists' "A Hard Day's Night" and their own "The Beatles' Story". "The Capitol Albums, Vol. 2" is the perfect companion to Vol. 1, reliving those mad days of Beatlemania.

The US Beatles Albums as You Remember
I already own all of the British Parlophone Beatles releases, so I was hesitant to buy the Beatles music all over again. Nevertheless, I finally gave in and purchased Volume 2 of the Captol Albums. Part of the listening experience of these albums for older baby boomers like me is the song sequence, and the exaggerated stereo (or mono)offered on the US releases. Listening to these US versions does indeed take me back to the 60's more than the UK CDs. The little mini album format is also very cute, and makes playing the CDs fun.For $10 a CD or so,I am happy with this 4 CD set. Sound is better than 2009 remasters
I bought these for a few different reasons: I am an avid fan and like to collect all the official releases; I am an American fan and this brings back the memories more the the British collection more available today; The sound on these CDs is fantastic. I already have all the new remasters in both stereo and mono and let me say that these sound superior in general. Beatles devotees should know that there are a number of different mixes of the Beatles catalogue--stereo/mono and American/British. In my opinion many of the American mixes are superior. The mini album packaging is fun and more interesting than the old jewel box. I think the music industry would do better if it remembered that they are selling an object as well as music and that's what distinguishes CD sales from ...
