  • Great Read; Very Entertaining; Very Revealing and Insightful

Growing up, one of my favorite Cowboys players was Walt Garrison. So, reading this book was a real treat for me. The book is hilarious as well as very insightful as to the beginning history of the Dallas Cowboys and many of it's great-great players and coach; Bob Lilly, Don Meredith, Chuck Howley, LeRoy Jordan, Don Perkins, Mel Renfro, Bob Hayes, Cliff Harris, Roger Staubach and Tom Landry just to name a few. This book is well written; has a lot of great stories; and a nice photo section in the middle of the book. If you love the history of professional football and especially the history of the Dallas Cowboys, you will love reading this book, which offers a true perspective and inside look from a hard-nosed, hard-playin and hard-livin real-life cowboy, both on and off the field. I highly ...

  • Review of Once A Cowboy - Book

It was bought for a Christmas gift (afraid I couldn't get one close to Christmas). It is a First Edition and in mint condition. I am currently reading it (kind of cheating) and it is a quality book (especially for a long time Cowboy fan. Great Item. Dust jacket is nice - actual book has a star on it and cover is red and blue. Very Nice Item.

  • Calling all Cowboy lovers

IF you love the Cowboys, especially the early Cowboys you will love this book. Before huge salaries changed the face of football there were teams of guys who loved the game and brought more character than a Robert Jordan novel. Walt is one of those stand alone guys with a nose for rooting out trouble in his innocent country way. Fun to read and envision, it gives a real flavor of a locker room and all its jokers...makes you wonder how they ever had time for football. Great ride, Go Cowboys, Thanks Walt, Mr. Cowboy.

  • fantastic

great, reading in spare time, half way through, funny, if you like this check out "raised on rocky top" Johnny Mills stories, I personally was acquainted with him, didn't know a lot of things about him,

  • Once a Cowboy

You need to be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys to get a glimpse of what it must have been like inside America's Team as told by Walt Garrison. His humor and whit are refreshingly honest and reviling, the author writes the book in true small town Texas Talk.
