Product Information

The PowerShot S60 continues the compact and full function legacy of the PowerShot S-series, but is now even slimmer. Compared to the PowerShot S50, the PowerShot S60 is 3.2 mm slimmer. In addition, ergonomically redesigned and repositioned buttons, and a redesigned menu interface combine to improve ease of operation.This camera is equipped with an approximately 5 million pixel CCD. The DIGIC Imaging Processor speeds precise image handling, and when teamed with iSAPS technology, results in the best image control.This camera is equipped with a newly designed 28 to 100 mm, f/2.8-5.3, 3.6x optical zoom lens. Compared to cameras with the usual 35 mm maximum wide-angle setting, the PowerShot S60's 28 mm lens lets you take in more of a scene at the same distance. On the other hand, thanks to the 3.6x optical zoom, telephoto photography approaching 3x cameras is also possible. By incorporating a newly designed, molded, aspherical UA lens - with its ultra-high index of refraction - into the zoom lens composition, high magnification rates with excellent image quality and a slimmer body were achieved.Photographic functions are also being added and improved. The camera can use its macro setting to take photos as close as 4 cm from the subject. In addition, shutter speeds from 15 to 1/2000 of a second can be selected. When shooting photos in the RAW format, you can now select the resolution of the JPEG preview image that is simultaneously saved in the RAW image data. The Tv and Av modes have added the Safety Shift function, which automatically adjusts settings for an appropriate exposure when shooting. VGA movies (640x480) can now be recorded. Compared to the PowerShot S50, start up time has been reduced.The Print/Share button has also been added, letting you easily print your images by connecting the camera directly to a direct print compatible printer and then simply pressing this button.

    Older model but full auto and manual, RAW, 28-100mm, and great under water!

    Color me surprised. I own at least 10 different digital cameras at any one time and purchased this camera only because I needed a cheap underwater model for snorkeling. I looked around for the cheapest real UW housing and found one for only $25 used- and this was what fit into it. What a great little camera! It shoots RAW and even has an underwater white balance. By today's standards it's a bit heavy and larger than a pocket camera, but what great quality photos it takes! Megapixels are definitely not everything. The 28mm lens is fabulous under and above water and canon's wc-dc40 case lets you access every feature, even full manual. My only issue is that it gets warm after 30 minutes use (as mentioned in the user guide) and it's not as light for pocketability. But for Underwater use it's ...

    Many features help this Canon S60 rival more expensive professional cameras

    I got one here on ebay for next to nothing, compared for what it originally sold for back-in-the-day when it was introduced on the market. Features galore for a point and shoot. Does not have any onboard memory though. You can take a picture without the memory card inserted but can only preview it not save it. Also, get a card reader and xfer data that way instead of using a cable. Much faster. Overall, great little camera, powerful flash too. hard to screw this decision up - get it - you'll be glad

    Crappy old Camera for cheap

    The front door is loose and doesn't always close the lens or open the lens without some fiddling. There is excessive noise in the images and the rear screen doesn't display properly.

    This is a great camera, a bit heavy but fats and with a very good pictures

    This is a great cam. The picture's quality is much better than other not-mirror cams. I've got on Ebay a bit broken PowerShot S60 because I had the similar and broken one already. I've take lens and matrix from my cam and inserted it into boughted on Ebay one. And I got a great very cheap working camera and I'm happy too much.

    Buy it! No better Camera for the money. Better than the new plastic ones!

    Camera was in perfect shape. So much easier to use than the newer version. 5mp more than enough for 10x14 professional prints!
