Columbo (Peter Falk) does it again!
Peter Falk is sorely loved and missed. I believe this has to be one of my all time favorite series. The writers include the most minute details in forensic police work. That is to say, the "Old Fashioned" police work, with extreme attention to detail. This is a delightful addition to my collection, and as usual, I wasn't disappointed at all. Love Him, But He Got Way TOO Nice With the Suspects
I love Lt. Columbo (who doesn't?), but what I DIDN'T like is that as the show went on, he became way too polite to suspects. I went back and watched the pilot episode with Gene Barry in Season 1 and while he was always cordial to all those he interrogated, he became stern when he had to. Over the years, Lt. Columbo started kissing too much butt and it became evident in Seasons 6 and 7. Go back and you'll see what I'm talking about. Yes, I love the absentmindedness and the scruffy, unkempt way about him, but when you're trying to entrap a murderer, all that politeness was SO not necessary. And enough with the references about "Mrs. Columbo," who we never met except in a really bad spin-off series. I realize that all of it adds to his charm, but the ... I love Lt. Columbo fans gotta have it
I'm a hardcore Columbo fan so of course I enjoy this collection. However I reserve the highest ratings for the earlier episodes which ran on NBC. The first five of the ABC episodes are on this collection and there are two which I really like a lot: Grand Deceptions, with the toy soldiers, and, Murder: A Self Portrait, with the dream interpretations. For the Columbo fans I say, "Gotta have it." But for the nonfan I would recommend beginning with some of the earlier ones that you can find on Ebay with titles such as "First Season" or "Second Season" and so on.I'm a hardcore Columbo fan so of course I enjoy this collection. Columbo is one of the better detective shows , monk is developed from columbo / shurlock profiling , this role could not be better filled , Peter Falk is a shoe in ... cant wait to get my movie collection , have not seen this yet ... could I ask you one more question ?? hahaha ...
