Exact model replacement camera for family member who already knew how to operate this model. About $35 with Shipping was better than the $400 for a camera the family member was planning to buy -- and then not know how to use or not get the most out of such a camera.

  • Outdated in 2012, A610 is still fun when using Canon Hack Development Kit.

Bought the A610 after retiring its Vari-Angle predecessor the A80 sometime 2007. A610 is a major improvement from the A80 for sure. LCD is bigger. Camera weigh's less than the A80 with 4xAA batteries. Standard Movie mode no longer has 3 minute limit per clip. Uses SD rather than CF for memory. Accepts Lens Adapters that are of 52mm rather than 37mm . Picture Quality as long as objects in frame are not moving very fast than normal the pictures will be finely detailed otherwise blurry. Decent at low light conditions with ISO 50-200 any higher will be very grainy. Movie mode at its highest 640x480p 30fps is acceptable Audio is clear, but not best when zooming. Don't recommend movie mode at all since it's not SDHC compatible 2gb for only 20 minutes not worth it. Durability The A610 being the ...

  • Verstalile camera, adaptable, easy to use

For this camera, I would prefer for it to be self-charging. Using four batteries can be difficult at times. The camera is solid, very easy to hold and focus, without shaking. The movable screen is probably the biggest help for me, in any situation when taking pictures, I can adapt.

  • Great value!

Modern digital cameras offer more pixels but this one can make pics printable at A3 size, which is good enough for me. I bought this for my wife, actually, because it is a good camera and easy to use, but you can grow into it, if you get more serious. I found one like it at an estate sale and bought it for $2.50 because it had no shutter button. No problem. I repaired it and found that I had a really nice camera for next to nothing. This one cost more but it didn't need to be repaired.

  • Canon PowerShot A610

pro: you can get one cheap & it's possible to make good quality pics with this. cons: its a bit bulky for slipping in pocket or purse, there's a mode switch for either shooting or playback that i found annoying. if you like to review a shot after making it you have to exit shooting mode (lens retracts, the whole 9). you do get a brief review on lcd in shoot mode, but only the last shot. finally, you can adjust flash power +/- 3 in 1/3s, which is a great feature, and you can disable the flash entirely.
