    x3450

    This is a decent server processor for single socket servers. As of 2016, it is not the newest processor by any means as it does not include the newer AES-NI feature sets, but it provides excellent processing power for light server work loads. The x3450 is code named Lynnfield and is based on the Nehalem architecture. The x3450 is similar to the i7 860, but it includes ECC RAM support.

    New life for an old board

    I have an old Gigabyte motherboard that has been the most reliable board ever. I needed to run ECC RAM for a ZFS build and this CPU did the trick. Fired right up without any tweaking on a GA P55M board from, oh about 2009 I guess. Perfect for this project. Runs very cool too. Thanks.
