    Not your grandparents Pilgrims

    According to my wife, who teaches History, this is a very accurate telling of the early American settlers. This is probably NOT what you learned in school. It is in 2 long parts, but some versions say that there are 4 episodes... There are not 4, just 2. But that is the complete "series". Parents: A few "swear words" in the first 30 minutes, and some violence throughout, but would qualify for a PG rating, I would think. Very educational. I would recommend it for anyone. Would be a good thing to watch before Thanksgiving!

    Great features Great actors Great movie

    Great movie, great story line. I truly enjoyed everything, except one thing. I was thinking this was the story of the Virginia landing and Chief Powhatan, as I live here. This is the landing more north in Mass. All the people in this story did a fantastic job, playing their parts. Great movie for families to watch.

    The title is accurate, as the group was actually known as Saints and Strangers.

    Historically, this film is quite accurate. Stephen Hopkins, (my 9th gr-grandfather), was portrayed accurately. This film will be appreciated by all Mayflower descendants, especially those that have previously researched the history. He film has good educational value, and has been well researched for accuracy. This subject would make a good series, which could include Jamestown, Bermuda, Plymouth, Roanoke. I think the interest is there, though I am obviously somewhat biased on this subject.

    Great history-drama if it only had the subtitles for the indigenous actors

    Excellent dramatic history of the Pilgrims but much of it entails American Indian dialog for which the subtitles are not provided (despite the packaging saying there are subtitles in French and English)--That was a major disappointment. Otherwise highly recommended.
