    Easy to use

    I initially tried using a screw down valve spring compressor they loan out at Auto Zone-and they won't work on small block/big block engines. The arms that grip the bottom of the spring will pop off when you tighten down the spring. This tool works. It easily compresses valve springs and is easy to use. The end you center over the valve retainer has a center hole cutout that gives you easy access to remove the keepers. The arm locks in place so you can work to pry out the valve keepers or reinstall them. It's an invaluable tool for working on cylinder heads that are off the engine. And you don't run the risk of breaking off a pressed in rocker arm stud with this tool. Even if you only use it once, it's worth the grief of attempting to use those cheaper other tools.

    Solid value

    This valve spring tool is an excellent value for the price. Works very well and well built. It reduced the time I spend tearing heads down and was able to use it on heavy 600 pound springs. Other open jaw compressors have a tendency to spread with heavy springs. The design of this one eliminates that problem.
