About this product

Product Information

This standalone expansion to Ubisoft's fantasy-themed, turn-based strategy series introduces the powerful orc faction in an all-new campaign. The final chapter in Heroes of Might & Magic V's epic storyline once again has players amassing armies, conquering territory, and overseeing cities within the war-torn world of Ashan. Goblins, wyverns, cyclopes, witches, and other dark creatures are available to do your bidding as you set out to eliminate the demonic threat plaguing the land. Tribes of the East also adds a number of enhancements to the core play mechanics. Each unit within the game has been given an alternate upgrade, expanding the roster to more than 170 creatures. New spells, artifacts, building types, and faction-based skills are available as well, requiring different tactics for veteran players to master. Ten multiplayer and five single-player maps are also included in the expansion.

Item new, shiny and sealed. but from the picture it looked to be jewel case sized, not DVD box! A small inconvenience for a picky collector like me. Can't find sealed jewel case anywhere else, so can't really complain, but do check such details. Else I can only recommend this seller.

  • Fun and Mayhem

Another excellent Heroes of Might and Magic game. While the angled top-down playing can be awkward and sometimes makes movement awkward, the new character types and variety of scenarios add a nice dimension to play. I like that the battle mechanics seem to be consistent for the hero class (barbarians, for example, lose rage and morale from defending or waiting but gain them for hits given or taken). I'd like to see a 3DO-style printout of the town building tree--sometimes it's guesswork as to what will open the next level.

  • Heroes V, Tribes of the East

The new upgrades for the other factions are very impressive visually. I do not like the fact that you lose your shooters in some instances for an alternate ability, giving you all hand to hand characters if you are not careful. (ex: dungeon, mistress & scout no longer shoot, but have invisibility.) I don't know what it is about the orc faction, but it seems I have seen them all already. I dont know if its because I played a demo eons ago, or if there was a previous heroes that had them in it, but they seem familiar to me at any rate. Other than that, graphics, sound, & game play are all you expect from the Heroes V series.

  • The best of V . . . big improvements, mucho worth it

This is the product Ubisoft should have put out the first time. This is a stand-alone, you don't need the original Heroes V to play this. The game plays faster and smoother (I have XP, it says it runs on Vista but I haven't checked), they got the random map engine working, they fixed a lot of the bugs, they added a lot of depth (new variations on most every character in the game!?!) and the Orc team is lots of fun. If you like Heroes of Might and Magic, this is a great sequel. If you were disappointed with Heroes V, try this one. It still takes a powerful computer to run well. I am taking for granted you know what Heroes of Might and Magic games are like. Turn based, build towns and resources, build and army with a hero and fight against other teams doing the same. That's it in a nutshell, ...

  • the best advancement on the HOMM legacy.

the game engine is smoother than the original Heroes 5 release. my only "con" is the limited pre-made maps.. not a terrible thing though, as the map generator does a great job.

  • playable for about 1 month then lost interest

Overall, it's a very good turn base game. playable, but easily get bored, because the waiting time and the movement make you nuts on bigger maps, but small maps means less castle and less enemy, and less combat, less fun because your fights will start in your low levels, some high level skills and magics won't get a chance to see the game could end.
