great filter
Have been using this filter for 2 years with great luck. Product is quite long lasting even with my hard water! Filter is a little hard to install with the metal mesh around it but after installing the first one it went very nice and well worth the effort. I would recommend this filter to any one that has the right model humidifier.

Filter is not as great as it used to be years ago.
I buy this filter only because I bought humidifier and don't want to through it in garbage creating waste for our planet. I like the humidifier, but I will never buy humidifier with filter in future. This humidifier in past we used with filters that were designed differently:we could use the same filter for as many months we wanted. It worked perfectly and never stopped working. We were changing it only because it was dirty from socking dust in. I remember using it for 3-4 months before changing it. Later manufacture changed technology and made it working about 7-10 days, we stopped buying them because of that for couple years and now manufacture makes it working about 3 weeks. It works well for first 7-10 days, then it starts to use less and less water and when filter is about 21 days ... I buy this filter only because I bought humidifier and don't want to through it in garbage creating waste for our planet. I like the humidifier, but I will never buy humidifier with filter in future. This humidifier in past we used with filters that were designed differently:we could use the same filter for as many months we wanted. It worked perfectly and never stopped working. First it hurts fingers when I handle it ( it has very sharp edges, I have to ware gloves especially when I put it in garbage, when it is wet and heavy). Second this is waste of metal and third animals can be hurt if they will come to landfill filled with this garbage. I want companies who manufactures these filters would go back to technology they used to use for making these filters before, because they reduced quality of this product to make more profits and this is shame on them.

Generic Replacement is Flimsy
This generic replacement filter for the HOLMES humidifier is flimsier than the original one, which makes it more difficult to slide the filter onto the plastic housing holding the filter. Once on, it works, but be prepared to spend some time wrestling with this generic replacement filter.
