Original earlier design - GOOD
This item is the earlier type Schaller product. It is more compact, uses a hex nut clamp bolt and has the pin outer diameter machined properly to fin in the peg receiving hole diameter without binding and unscrewing the peg. I have a set of the newer Schaller design which someone in the Schaller design department must have been asleep. To use the newer design with the lock ring and screw, I needed to counter bore the peg hole on a drill press, to a larger diameter to fit the lock pin without binding. Not fun. Also the new design is unnecessarily bigger which feels and looks clumsy. Buy this item in the original design configuration and you will be much happier. The good stuff!
Basically these are the older style Schaller Straplocks. I don't like the newer version so I always get these if I can. The gold plating is way better than the cheap knock-offs. Buy these, you won't be disappointed.
