About this product

Product Information

Judith Hampton was as beautiful as she was proud and loyal. Her dear Scottish friend from childhood was about to give birth, and Judith had promised to be at her side. But there was another, private reason for the journey from her bleak English home to the Highlands: to meet the father she had never known, the Laird Maclean. Nothing prepared her, however, for the sight of the Scottish barbarian who was to escort her into his land...Iain Maitland, Laird of his clan, a man more powerfully compelling than any she had ever encountered. In a spirited clash of wills and customs, Judith reveled in the melting bliss of Iain's searching kisses, his passionate caresses. Perplexed by her sprightly defiance, bemused by her tender nature, Iain felt his soul growing into the light and warmth of her love. Surely nothing would wrench her from the affection and trust of Iain and his clan...not even the truth about her father, a devastating secret that could shatter the boldest alliance, and the most glorious of loves

  • Top critical review

The book is great. The cover is a lie.

I’m really unhappy how many people lie about what the book looks like on EBay. The thumbnail is the original cover but I received the new paperback that you can literally get anywhere. So disappointed.

  • A charming and delightful, can't put it down book.

This book is about an English lady named Judith who goes to help her friend -who lives in the Highlands-give birth to her first child. In the process Judith learns alot about herself and the man who brings her from England--Iain Maitland-Laird of the clan where here friend lives. I LOVED this book. I could hardly put the book down. I have read quite a bit of Julie Garwood and so far-have never been let down. The ending are always the best and some of the elements are quite suprising. I have read lots of romance books and in some of them I know exactly all the twist and turns and how it will turn out. Almost in all of the Garwood books I have read-I always get at least one suprise that I did fathem. Plus -all of them end on a good note--which is one of my requirements when reading a ...

  • The Secret by Julie Garwood

Julie Garwood is my favorite adventure/romance/humor writers. This title is one I have read and reread. This reason I purchased it is, I have missed rereading it as my copy was lost during a recent move. Garwood's sense of humor is as warped as mine. Not many authors can get me to laugh out loud. My husband knows which author I am reading because of the laughter.

  • Julie Garwood at her best!

This is another book you won't want to put down. It has great characters, setting in Scotland, & humor, humor, humor! Another one of my favorites that I have read over & over. If you love historical romance then buy this book & you won't regret it. Julie Garwood books pull you in and won't let you go till the end. Always leaves me wanting to go find another one of her books!
