Johnny Cash was one of the 20th century's greatest and most influential musicians, and his classic tales of love and hate have inspired countless cover versions throughout the years. So it seems oddly fitting that for his own swan song, Cash chose to perform a cover himself: Nine Inch Nails' elegiac "Hurt," a song informed by loss, regret, and the mournful passage of time. Filmmaker Mark Romanek (who also helmed the video for the origninal NIN song) translated Cash's haunting performance into a powerful music video that perfectly encapsulated the legend's life and career--and was made even more poignant by Cash's death shortly thereafter. This special DVD release features the "Hurt" music video by itself and in its entirety, offering a moving final tribute to the legendary Man in Black.

I absolutely love this DVD Single!!It is by far the best performance I have ever watched as a video. Watching this DVD and Johnny Cash gave me goosebumps. It is such a powerful and moving song and performance. As you travel through the decades of his life from new performer to seasoned veteran in his golden years, it is a beautiful portrait of his life & loves. Seeing him with his wife, June Carter Cash and their young son, at home in his beloved sanctuary in Tennessee, or at the remains of his childhood home and viewing the House of Cash Museum was truly a step back in time. You would have thought Johnny Cash sat down and wrote Hurt, it seemed to fit him and his life so well. This will always be my favorite music video, no other comes close. I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes everytime ... I absolutely love this DVD Single!!It is by far the best performance I have ever watched as a video. HURT WELL CHOSEN
When I borght it I thourght it was a full length film, at first I was puzzeled but if any body out there buys it please watch it. I think it's the most moving record of a mans emotions I have ever watch, both My husband and I are Johnny Cash Fans, we were distress when he died, the end of a legend, but this dvd makes your realise just what a great man he still is. Who would guess that Johnny Cash would choose something written by the greatly talented Trent Resnor (i.e.Nine Inch Nails, etc.) to speak to all of us in the truly mind awakening manner in which only he could could speak.This is a must have for ALL Johnny Cash fans. HURT is a haunting film!!
This is the most amazing music video ever made! So much vintage film footage is great! A Grammy Award winner film!! Haunting & chilling is an understatement! LOVE Johnny & June Cash! A must have for any Cash fan!!
