About this product

Product Information

Power Gig: Rise of the SixString is a jam-along musical instrument sim that gives virtual rockers the option of mastering of a more challenging, more realistic guitar-playing mode. Fans of earlier music simulation games can choose Power Gig's "beat-matching" mode, in which players tap the fret board in time with the music, following onscreen cues, as in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Using a compatible microphone and the game's exclusive AirStrike drumstick controllers, players can also add vocals and percussion for a virtual band performance. In the game's "Chord Play" mode, guitar players switch from lead to rhythm, and strum along with the actual chord progressions of the songs. The finger placements used to play chords on the Power Gig SixString guitar controller are similar to those used on a regular guitar, providing virtual rock heroes a more authentic physical experience of jamming along with the band. The game features a storyline with original characters and settings, and the opportunity to unlock challenging rock anthems from artists including Eric Clapton, the Dave Matthews Band, and Kid Rock, With its six real strings and working fret board, the Power Gig controller can be plugged in to any standard amplifier and played like a regular guitar. The SixString guitar controller, required for play, is sold separately from this game-only package.

  • Not just guitars- drums, vocals and strategy, too!

Regardless of what you may think, this game isn't just for guitar players. There are also vocals ("sacred microphone"), and drums ("airstriker") modes available. It is also fully possible to play with a full band and I would highly encourage it. By playing as a full band the game becomes a lot easier as the powers are different on different musicians can and do stack! I tend to do vocals and have to admit this game has one of the best vocal recognitions I have played with yet. It's better than Rock Band! However, you will end up doing the same songs over and over at first which can get tiring. The songs are also fairly obscure and "college-y", which can throw in a curve ball for some players. If you like RPGs, this game will have you covered. It's not a band game but a musical RPG! You ...

  • it is not worth buying

The game play is ok but the limited song list to start with is irritating and annoying. This is crazy and I can see why it was cheap and it did not get any bids.
