Can't judge a book by it's cover
Better Homes and Gardens, as we all know, is a hit and miss prospect. Sometimes the books are good. Sometimes they are not. This is a BIG zero. I got it for the cover photo. Thinking it was an apron. It's a basket wrap, which we all know don't stay tied and if you make it with elastic or fasteners doesn't matter. Once you put things in the pockets the weight forces the thing to droop. Besides there are so many patterns on the market for the same thing. The book is seriously outdated. And even for it's time lacks any use. That is unless you want to make 7 pillows with Henry the VIII and his six wives appliqued on them. Why is beyond passing all understanding. I can only think of one place. A museum lounge in England. And even there it would be beyond tacky. There is a child's birthday ... Better Homes and Gardens, as we all know, is a hit and miss prospect. Sometimes the books are good. Sometimes they are not. I can see as they get old adding numbers and memories to the table cloth with the child, boy or girl. Might be a great keepsake. And a few other table linens someone might like to try. Fabric scrapes could find a nice home in these. Personally I can't see a use for this for anyone and for a Better Homes and Gardens book it is disappointing. There is only 79 pages. Most of those are filled with huge photos. If they made them an average size far more projects could have been added to the book. This is why ebay put number of pages on all the books for sale. They don't anymore. We all have to go back to looking up the books on the other major book selling store, or risk getting a book with very few pages, few projects and of those very few that the effort would benefit the home decor. Really wish ebay would put back the number of pages. There is an old saying, you can't judge a book by it's cover. This is so true. It is so very sad when the best thing in the book is pictured on the cover and it goes so far down from there. For me just buying the pattern on the cover would have been good enough rather than the book.

Wonderful book on doing embroidery by sewing machine.
Wonderfully comprehensive book on the subject of creative machine stitchery, particulary doing embroidery on a sewing maching. Beautifully illustrated with exciting projects. I could hardly wait to get started on something new.
