About this product

Product Information

Carmen got the jeans at a thrift shop. They didn't look all that great: they were worn, dirty, and speckled with bleach. On the night before she and her friends part for the summer, Carmen decides to toss them. But Tibby says they're great. She'd love to have them. Lena and Bridget also think they're fabulous. Lena decides that they should all try them on. Whoever they fit best will get them. Nobody knows why, but the pants fit everyone perfectly. Even Carmen (who never thinks she looks good in anything) thinks she looks good in the pants. Over a few bags of cheese puffs, they decide to form a sisterhood and take the vow of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants . . . the next morning, they say good-bye. And then the journey of the pants - and the most memorable summer of their lives - begins.

  • The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Four friends, one pair of pants, one magical summer! Lena, Tibby, Bridget and Carmen are four girls, girls with hopes, ambitions, dreams and, of course, problems. They find a pair of pants which, amazingly, fits each of them perfectly and in which they feel like they can conquer all of their problems. It's kind of like having a lucky marble--you know deep down that nothing is changed by it, but, on the other hand, why do things seem to go so much better when you have it with you? The pants are like that. They give the girls more confidence to do the right thing, to stand up for themselves and others, and to be united in a bigger cause--the Sisterhood! Although this book is about young girls, I think girls of any age can identify with one or more of the characters in this book. Guys--well, ...

  • i wanted to read the book before i saw the movie

this book is interesting, but to be honest, i have not finished it. it reads as if it were written for and by 12-year old's. i wanted to read it before i watched the movie, but the movie seemed to be about adults reminiscing about their childhood. maybe the book gets better, but for now, it reads a lot like "are you there god, it's me, margaret" but it is not as interesting.
