Il a forme, entre autres, des auteurs aussi differents que Menandre, Demetrios de Phalere ou l'orateur Dinarque. Son oeuvre est a l'image de son enseignement, vaste et variee: nombre de travaux dans des domaines allant de la logique a la medecine, en passant par les lettres, lui sont attribues, mais malheureusement, seuls quatre d'entre eux nous sont parvenus. Parmi eux, les Recherches sur les plantes proposent une description et une explication minutieuse et precise du monde vegetal et constitue pour nous le premier manuel pratique de botanique que nous ayons conserve. Notre edition presente en un volume le livre 9, dernier tome des Recherches sur les Plantes. Ce livre occupe une place a part dans l'oeuvre puisqu'il s'agirait d'un ajout ulterieur, forme de la reunion de deux opuscules composes precedemment par Theophraste, Les Seves des vegetaux, et Les Vertus des simples. La notice introductive relate l'aventure scientifique et litteraire qui permit d'etablir l'histoire de ce texte composite, et propose de judicieuses pistes de lecture. L'histoire de la tradition manuscrite est analysee avec precision, de meme que les sources de Theophraste. Le texte est accompagne d'un riche apparat critique, et seconde par un eclairant commentaire. L'ouvrage est en outre enrichi de nombreuses annexes, d'un sommaire permettant de circuler aisement dans le texte et de plusieurs index.

The seller is one of the best there is - high quality books, reasonable prices, securely packaged.
I do, however, recommend some changes to their shipping - they show a shipper (SortHub) on eBay, but the tracking # they email is for a different carrier. It’s difficult to know where my purchase is.
This time, it was delivered a week late. In the grand scheme of things not a big deal. But it shouldn’t be this difficult to accurately track my purchase.
