America's serial killers
The way all the stories are explained in this particular movie I felt was very vague. I am disappointed that I purchased this movie. There is a movie of 6 stories told with a couple names from the Serial killers movie. It has Helter skelter, Michael Caine story. Two girls that were kidnapped then escaped. I personally think that the movies of six on one DVD was written better and gave a better description of what happened in each case. Good but a tad repetitious
This is a very thorough ten-part documentary at a reasonable price. My reason for taking off a point (rating it good rather than excellent) is that it is a bit TOO thorough. The title is AMERICA'S SERIAL KILLERS. When it sticks to the topic, it's riveting. But it goes off-topic often, in great detail. An entire episode is devoted to Jack The Ripper (a BRITISH serial killer); other episodes delve into vampires, werewolves, and movies about fictional serial killers. These tangents are interesting if you are into that sort of thing; viewers who are interested ONLY in American serial killers might not be enthusiastic. A very long intro is repeated at the beginning of each episode, which gets repetitious if you're watching multiple episodes in one sitting. The narrator also ... For example, I was surprised to learn that Ed Gein only killed THREE people; he was into performing atrocities on dead bodies, so most of his victims were dug up from the local cemetery. Definitely worth watching.

Most Amazing View of Evil in America
Had seen this documentary series several times because it is so thorough in it's description of each one of the serial killers and their crimes. Starting with Jack the Ripper it grips your attention and doesn't let go. Bought another DVD for a neighbor whose a fan of horror movies so in this she get's to see the real thing. The experts really get into the heads of these killers. Evil beyond belief!! Had seen this documentary series several times because it is so thorough in it's description of each one of the serial killers and their crimes. Ok, first things, first. A british serial killer is the very first episode in a DVD about American serial killers. I just had to point that out. This DVD is filled with fluff. Clips from movies that have very little (and often times NOTHING) to do with the serial killers supposedly being profiled. Very little is actually shared about the killers in question, and what is told is as likely to be true as it is to be false. Pay attention to what is being said in the DVD, and ask yourself how much of what is being said is actual facts, and how much is just opinion. Production quality is also poor and can be seen in the quality of the DVDs themselves. It skips and the first DVD only played once before fizzling out.
