  • Fascinating to see the original story and the screenplay that was made from it side by side.

The original story was described by Kubrick's screenwriter as being "somewhat dusty," but now having read it and the screenplay, I don't entirely agree, but I do believe that the film version of it maintained the basic integrity of the story and that each is worthy in its own right.

  • Important Keepsake

This volume is unique in the Kubrick lexicon as it combines for the first time a finished screenplay and the text on which it is based together. The screenplay, by Stanley Kubrick (A Clockwork Orange) and Frederic Raphael (Two for the Road) is the final script as it matches the final edit of the film, but is great reading for curious film analyzers. For years, no English version of Arthur Schnitzler's novella "Dream Story" was available because Kubrick bought up every copy in existence because of his planned film). There have been other translations available since, but this was the first available in over thirty years and proves Schnitzler's genius.

  • A must-have.

Kubrick's finest achievement as a writer, maybe, was the extraordinary ease with which he described what afterward seemed a complicated mixture of images and words on screen. The novel that inspired the film (formerly known as 'Traumnovelle') is a powerful rollercoaster of emotions and situations which may still be found as taboo in today's relationships. A great read.

  • Eyes Wide Shut

I am in a playwriting class, and I love this movie and had begun to be very curious about the screenplay. The original book being included with the screenplay is a wonderful way to compare how a novel is turned into a movie!

  • Great

Very good contion. screenplay and novela. the story is better... Kubrick is a genius. Read the story and watch the film.
