THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST depicts the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth (Jim Caviezel), beginning with his betrayal by Judas Iscariot (Luca Lionello) and ending with his crucifixion and subsequent resurrection. Directed by Mel Gibson (BRAVEHEART)--who funded the film himself and co-wrote the screenplay--PASSION uses flashbacks to substantiate a handful of pertinent moments in Jesus' life and teachings, such as the Sermon on the Mount and the Last Supper, as well as his relationships with his mother and his disciples. Still, the drama focuses on the seemingly endless torture inflicted upon Jesus by Roman soldiers at the urging of the Jewish crowd that considers him a blasphemer, despite the attempts of a sympathetic Pontius Pilate (Hristo Naumov Shopov) to spare him from death. The faint of heart should be prepared for the brutal, barbaric beatings that Christ endures. Maia Morgenstern, Monica Bellucci, and Hristo Jivkov are touching as Mary, Magdalene, and John respectively, who are devastated by Jesus' fate yet aware that they can do nothing to change it. Performed in Aramaic and Latin with English subtitles, Gibson's labour of love is sure to prompt discussion and debate as to historical and Biblical fact.

    Realistic portrayal Christ's effective suffering for all humanity, all sinners. He willingly took our pain on Himself so we may live lives free of condemnation, at peace with God forever. A mother anguishes as she sees her child suffering,yearns to save Him. Easy to relate to as all of us are children, many parents. Loving parents want to save their children from pain. It's perfect Jesus' desire before holy God to be human Mary's substitute bearer of HER punishment for HER inherited sinful nature, attitudes, acts. Jesus Christ HER rescuer! Well portrayed!     The Passion Of The Christ (DVD 2004)

    Excellent film I saw it on TV & wanted to buy it. It contains a high level of violence. Its a good film dipicting the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus Christ.on the day he was crucified. It starts n the Garden of Olives at the Last Supper. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the Jesus publicly announces that he is 'the Son of God' and is arrested and taken back to Jerusalem. There, the head of the Pharisees accuse Jesus of blasphemy. The leaders condemning him to his death. Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, he was the then Roman Governor of Palestine. Pilate listens to the accusations leveled at Jesus by the Pharisees. Realizing that his own decision will cause him to become embroiled in a political conflict, Pilate defers to King Herod in deciding the matter of how to persecute Jesus. ...

    Over the top Passion

    Gibson's film is a hugely important work. Perhaps for the first time we can see the true brutality involved in Christ's persecution and death. That said it is a bit over the top. There is a gratuity in the violence depicted. It must be said that no-one could possibly survive the torture depicted in this film before Christ was crucified. We see something of the same gratuitous violence in Gibson's other film 'Braveheart'. One wonders does Gibson have something of a violence fetish?!

    Awesome product to see a glimpse of how Jesus loves you!

    I wanted to see how the film is simillar to the Bible story and I have found it really great as it refelcts the Bible story in a great way. Great product to watch if you want to know the glimpse of the price Jesus paid for you on the cross. I recommend this prduct to everyone. Jesus forgive us for all things we have done wrong and cleanse us with your blood. O lord come!
