Spezifische oder nichtspezifische infektios oder anderweitig bedingte Urethritiden zeigen samtlich als Hauptsymptom einen unterschiedlich starken Fluor, der sich auch in Konsi stenz und Farbe unterscheidet. Sichere atiologische Schltisse konnen jedoch aus diesen Eigenschaften nicht hergeleitet werden - und insgesamt ist die Symptomatik relativ mono ton. Allein hieraus erhellt die Problematik der Diagnostik in Klinik und Praxis. Von groBter Bedeutung ist ftir den be handelnden Arzt die genaue Kenntnis aller hier in Betracht kommenden Urethritisformen. Sie verschafft ihm die Mog lichkeit, in jedem Fall den notwendigen Untersuchungsgang (Anamnese, Inspektion, mikroskopische Untersuchung, Kul turen, Allergietestung, evtl. Exploration durch einen Psy chopathologen) einzuleiten und zu verfolgen. Erst die sichere Diagnose erlaubt eine kausale und damit erfolgver sprechende Therapie. Die "rein reflektorische" a priori-Be handlung mit einem "breitspektralen" Antibioticum ohne Klarung der Ursache muB entschieden abgelehnt werden, da sie nur Zufallsresultate zeigt und nicht ungefahrlich ist. Die unspezifischen Harnrohrenentztindungen nehmen zahlenma Big zu - und leider ist die Kenntnis dieses Sektors der Medizin nicht nur hierzulande noch kein Allgemeingut der praktizierenden Arzte. Kein Wunder, daB viele Patien ten - oft recht verzweifelt - von Arzt zu Arzt wandern, urn Hilfe zu finden. So ist es sehr zu begrtiBen, daB Herr Soltz-Szots jetzt diese Monographie verfaBt hat, der ich einen vollen Erfolg wtinsche. In Amerika und Kanada hat man der unspezifischen bzw. "nichtgonorrhoischen" Urethritis schon seit langem Auf merksamkeit geschenkt.
