About this product

Product Information

The tragic true life story of Korea's "Queen of Tears" comes to the screen in this lavish historical biopic starring Su-Ae as the Joseon Dynasty's Queen Min. Swept up in her passions for fierce warrior Mu Myeong (Cho Seung-Woo), Ja Yeong (Su-Ae) nevertheless weds King Gojong to become Queen of Joseon. Meanwhile, Mu Myeong becomes her protector in a bid to remain close while Russia and Japan launch attempts to colonize Korea. When King Gojong's father shows more loyalty to foreign diplomats than his own people, the queen's refusal to follow suit puts her in a rather precarious position. Now, the Japanese are drawing up plans to assassinate Queen Min, and the only man who can protect her is Mu Myeong.

Received this 2-disc movie set promptly and in like new condition as described. I appreciate that it was packaged in a bubble wrap envelope for shipping safety. On playing the movies I discovered one of the discs was faulty (skipping and freezing). When I reported this to the seller, I received an immediate refund. Great communication. I appreciate sellers who stand behind their products and will certainly purchase from this reliable seller again. Highly recommend.

  • THE SWORD WITH NO NAME - AWESOME!

This movie was awesome, a nice surprise and I really enjoyed watching it. The sheer magnitude of this true but tragic story with it's beautiful scenery and acting was excellent in every sense of the word. The acting, scenes, costumes and the story line was well done. It's a tale of undying love that makes you believe that love and loyalty can conquer all. It's about Ja Yeong who will soon be Empress Myeong-seong - a great thinker and visionary who tried to modernize Korea against the wishes of her step father, Japan and others who believe that Western philosophy would only weaken and destroy Korea and it's people. And you know what that means - yes, she is going against the wishes of some very powerful people. The day before she's set to marry the king (whom she's not in love with) she ...

  • Great movie, but English is spokent instead of Korean with English subtitle

This is such an exceptional movie. I have watched it on Netflix at least a dozen times. Only problem with the dvd I received is that the actors's Korean voices are not even heard. It should be Korean language spoken with English subitles. But instead, two very young Americans are speaking English in a child-like soft tone as if telling a fairy tale to small children, which kills the essence of the movie. This is a movie about strong passion and warriors, not a fairy tale for children. I realize the seller didn't make the dvd, but I just thought he should know about it, and he doesn't offer an option to contact him and tell him personally, so thought I should warn next people looking at this dvd to buy. I bought this movie because I love it so much and never tire of watching it again and ...
