Plate Release
I only see one problem with this item. There is no way for someone that owns a boat with a swimming deck to release the plate and drive the boat and release the plate at the same time. Which will make it hard to raise when fishing alone. There is no way for me to be at the controls and release the plate to be able to achieve full throttle. I have a 2.5' rear seating, then about a 14" rear boat fiberglass, then a swimming deck that one would have to lean over to be about to pull the rope. and my controls are 5 fee' forward to that. And the outdrive sits below the swim deck. Thus it is a 2 person job to release the plate to achieve full throttle. Someone to hold the release arm back until speed is achieved. I am able to get the rope to the rear fiberglass but not to the controls. Where they ... I only see one problem with this item. I have a 23' Bayliner Capri with a v8 Volvo I/O that in my opinion runs to fast to troll. I could only get it down to 3.4mph and would like to go slower. With this trolling plate in I can get it down to 1.9 but consistently at 2.2mph. Doesn't sound like a lot but seems to make a difference in the amount of fish I catch here in West Magic, Idaho. Seems very sturdy. I bought the other brand of plate that has the fold and springs to protect the prop in case of accidental acceleration and it came apart within a year. I have had my original Happy Trolled for 30 years. Accidently left it down too many times and it was beyond repair. The one just purchased was a replacement. Nice unit and the price was about what I played 30 years ago.
