About this product

Product Information

Opera's king of melodrama, Richard Wagner, composed this sweeping romantic epic to a controversial response. In this 1999 performance, Director Peter Konwitschny of the National Theatre in Munich gives TRISTAN UND ISOLDE the opulent, gigantic production that it deserves. He also serves to instill the piece with an entirely original perspective.

  • THE version to have

"Tristan Und Isolde: National Theatre Munich" is an absolutely fantastic version that can not be compared to others! Being a big fan of Wagner, I had to get this movie since it was filmed live in Munich. I was pleased because it followed Wagner's personal notes well. Really well made and the costume, prop, & makeup staff did an excellent job. Since the movie was made by filming the München opera's rendition, you can't fault that. This version is in the North American DVD Format and was issued in 2001. IMHO, suitable for the family but parents should review the movie prior to viewing by school age children. My reviews are written without any knowledge as to who the potential seller may be.
