Tanto por mi experiencia personal, como por mi trabajo como psicoterapeuta, los sueños, estos extraños visitantes nocturnos a los cuales nuestra consciencia parece ponerles tantas dificultades para ser recordados, así como para ser "descifrados", han constituido una fuente de continuo aprendizaje e inspiración, tanto sobre mí mismo, como creo poder afirmar que también lo han sido para muchos de mis pacientes o alumnos que se han formado conmigo en estos años.El libro está organizado en tres partes que responden a los tres grandes temas que me han interesado a lo largo de todos estos años. La primera responde a la enseñanza de cómo trabajar los sueños desde una perspectiva gestáltica, dado que desde hace diecisiete años soy formador de terapia gestáltica, y el trabajo con sueños forma parte de dicha formación; la segunda responde a una visión más ecléctica del trabajo con sueños, esencialmente en relación con algunos conceptos junguianos, así como a la importancia de lo que yo llamo la clínica de los sueños; y por tercera y última, y desde una perspectiva netamente junguiana, ofrecer una reflexión sobre los que en culturas tribales de todo el mundo se conoce como Grandes Sueños, aquellos a los que Jung llamó sueños arquetípicos, sueños que parecen trascender las dimensiones personales tal y como ya hemos dicho anteriormente al comentar la importancia que la obra de Jung ha tenido en mi caso.
