    GOOD STM LENS FOR STREET WORK

    There has been much reviewing of this lens. For the price, I give it full marks for the almost silent focus motor, the light weight and the sharp images. It's fine for street work and i can leave my 18-135mm in the bag whilst street shooting. If you drop this lens, it's not the end of the world-no mortgage required to buy a replacement.. All plastic construcion? so what? Less wear on the camera body. The near silent motor is a boon for video work in all situations. Recommended 100%.

    Far superior to its predecessor at a price-point that makes it a no-brainer

    Much better than the non-IS kit lens, but strong barrel distortions at 18mm and high vignetting at 18mm at f/3.5. Flimsy construction. The review which prompted me to buy this lens over the non-IS version stated: "There were a few moments when I considered not to publish the results due to 'political correctness' because to date it was a quite absurd thought that such a cheap, or better 'affordable', lens can perform this good and I'm sure that some will not believe the findings even though they're supported by the published field images. Anyway, the resolution capabilities of the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is nothing short of amazing. This is also surprising regarding the rather small changes in the optical design compared to the EF-S 18-55mm ...

    EF lens to buy again.

    Very sharp images with the use of my 77D canon Body. Fast and quiet focus works also perfect for video. Easy to handel. Needs a little more light inside the house but with the sensitive sensor of the 77D body no problem.

    Excellent lens, light and compact.

    This lens represents excellent value for money. It is light and compact. The IS feature means it can be used in low light without a tri-pod. I purchased this to take pictures of my grandchildren over the Chrismas period,(partnered with my 450d) -a job it coped with very well. It is not built like a tank but you have to take the price into account. It perfoms superbly and I am both pleased with the accurate colour and the sharpness and clarity of this super little lens.

    Canon 18-55mm IS A class act

    The Canon 18-55mm IS is simply a fantastic lens. I have Hardly had it of my Camera and as I have an 18MP camera the Max f Stop of 3.5 is not really a problem. When we are out and about Photographers like to carry as little as possible I just pick up the Camera with the 18-55 put in under m coat and I am off I bought it to compliment my Canon Body which I also bought on E-BAY I Like the build quality and Image Stabiliser It is Light but great quality. It would be a problem if you wanted to use a polarizing filter for the Lens as when focusing the end of the lens rotates so a filter Kit like a cokin would be suitable Of course with the IS it is the best 18-55mm lens out there and cannot compare with the equivalent Nikon
