Product Information

MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries is the second sequel product released by Activision to MechWarrior 2 and is the first full standalone sequel. The game gives players a chance to lead the life of a mercenary captain in the futuristic Battletech timeline, engaging in mech combat in a first person 3D view and managing resources through contracts and salvage.<br><br>Players can pilot a variety of mechs but must acquire them through money earned from contracts or from salvage. Before each mission, players must negotiate the terms of a contract, then travel to that destination and fulfill the agreed to terms. Assignments range from simple one mission garrison defense to extended multi-mission attack sequences.<br><br>In multi-mission contracts, players cannot make extensive repairs to their mechs between missions; only field repairs and ammunition re-supplies are possible. Between contracts, players can purchase new mechs or parts, sell their own or profit from salvaged mechs and parts. Players can also hire several pilots who can be given simple commands during the course of battle to help in missions.<br><br>Through the course of the game, players will go through a storyline that covers events ranging from the arrival of the Clans in the Inner Sphere to their final defeat. The storyline is extended by a series of special pre-scripted contracts and players can also choose from the game's other randomly generated contracts.

    Mechwarrior 2 Mercs

    THIS WILL WORK ON XP/VISTA Great gameplay. The game physics were some of the first that were truly realistic, jump jets were done right in action and use. The controls felt like controls, like most military vehicles stupid behavior would hurt no one but yourself. Soundtrack: The best I've heard, interesting and causing skin crawl when things heated up. You can throw a game CD in & listen today, sounds great. This can be made to work on XP & Vista!! Do a goole search. There is a install video on youtube (Mechwarrior 2 95 - Installation guide) still works for XP / Vista! Just an update no changes of this game would SELL big. Things aren't done that way but I wish. Versions of this game are noted to be unusalbe in XP/Vista. Get the DOS & win95 (& others?)work but check before you buy. My ...

    Mercenary worthy!

    This was my least favorite game of the three games. The graphics improved a bit in this one compared to the previous two games. Music is good, and lends to the overall feel of the game. I didn't like how you had to buy your mechs in this version, but aside from that, it was a good game. If you're a hardcore Mechwarrior fan, then save your C-bills for this one.

    Nostalgic game

    This is an amazing game, you need a computer from 1996 or DOS box to run it. I got it mainly for the soundtrack which is equally amazing as the game.
