    Great singer!

    I am not sure why I never heard of Iris DeMent but that's my loss! A wonderful album, great songs and some written by her as well. Can't wait for her to tour the west. Yes, a bit "twangy" and old school but very well done. Thanks! Ms. DeMent!

    Marvelous tunes that set the tone for my day

    I love her CD, especially "Our Town," "Infamous Angel," "Let the Mystery Be," and "Grandest Opere." Very upbeat, singable tunes that can set a wonderful tone for my whole day. My only complaint is that sometimes the disc slips, in my car's CD's player, and won't play. It's the only CD I've ever played in the car that does that.

    music at it's best

    I discovered Iris on a DVD Transatlantic Sessions 1 and was blown away by her honest, from the heart style of singing- and she writes her songs. This is fine acoustic instrumental-no electronic crap here. Iris does not alter her voice or hide her original accent and this makes her singing exquisite. A lot of listeners would not think to listen to her style, however her vocals seem to let you be a part of the song. Call it 'hillbilly' or 'old time' but you will be humming or singing her songs to yourself. Memorable tunes and lyrics that will endure. True pictures of life. I bought two-one for home & one for the car.
