The Squirrel Buster Suet Feeder by Brohm is what I should have bought years ago!
It took a couple days for the woodpeckers to find it but once they did, I now occasionally have rose-breasted grosbeaks and indigo buntings. They never came to the small wire cage I used to use. There is no waste, the blue jays don't use it, and obviously, the squirrels after a day, don't even try. The racoons would destroy my small wire suet holders so over the years I've had to buy several replacements and take them in every night. Finches keep coming back, squirrels don't
I used simple nyjer socks for years with no problems. Then one day I found one torn apart and seed everywhere. I replaced it and the same thing happened. So I got this. It holds just under two socks' worth of seed (I emptied two socks into it). It took about a week for the finches to find the new feeder, but then I had finches coming by in twos and threes all day. Better than its Big Brother
Having both the "mini" version as well as the the larger capacity original Squirrel Buster, having to refill the mini version more often is better than dealing with moldy feed in the larger version.
